Review Topic: K1 Visa

Appointment is at 7:00AM but I got there with my fiance at 6:45AM and they were starting to let people in and we were pretty far back in the line already.

Took awhile to get to the security room and it was cold outside in line, seems like they were letting other visa types in first, and K-1 and CR-1 were last.

Once through security, you enter the waiting area and a staff member makes sure you have your documents. Only thing needed was I-134, medical exam, police certificate and passport photos. They told me no need for DS-160 confirmation, tax transcripts, birth certificate etc.

Then you enter a line for just K-1 where they took my fiances passport, and the documents mentioned above. After that you wait for your interview. They didn't start doing interviews until 8AM and just 1 officer. The other 2-3 officers opened their windows for interviews around 9:30AM

Window 2 officer had noticeably worse spanish but he was approving people quick (A few minutes) while Window 4 was taking 30+ mins a interview and giving people yellow slips for more documents/info. Hoping for Window 2 but ended up getting called to Window 4.

Definitely no order to it, as people behind us in the original K-1 line at the entrance were called for their interview before us. Unfortunately we were the 3rd last people to be called at around 12:00PM and the place was dead empty.

I went up to the window with my fiance. She picked up the phone for the interview, the officer never even looked at her, was looking at computer screen the whole time. She never requested to see any documentation we brought. Asked how we communicate since she doesn't speak English, asked how we met, asked what I do for work, how many times we've seen each other throughout the entire relationship, What the wedding plans were and a few other questions I can't remember and we were approved!

Seems like everyone was approved for the K-1 for my date

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Our experience at the Bogota embassy was very good. My fiance came to Bogota to attend the interview with me. Our interview was scheduled for 7am but we got there 6:15am. They don't let anyone in until 6:45am. We had to stay outside with other people until they called k1 visa applicants to go inside. Because we got there earlier, we got to be one of the first ones to get in. But, since they let people in accordign to the interview time, you'd get in if you cant make it early like we did. Once we got in, there was a first checkin point with some ladies going through the documents and making sure you were in the list for that day. Then we went through an airport security style check point. They went through my purse and did body scan. It is suggested that you don't take any unnecessary items (make up, laptops, etc.) to make the process faster. We only took our folder with our documents and my purse with a pen, my glasses and our passports. Once inside the embassy, a guy reviewed our documents and made sure we had everything and in the correct order. Then we had to go to a different line to give our papers to one of the officers. He asked us if this was the first marriage for both of us, we said yes. He then took our papers (Birth certificate, police records, i-134, 1040s, w2s, and medical exams) and told us to wait to get called for our interview. We waited for 40-45mins and then got called for our interview. The officer that conducted the interview was very friendly and made it more like a conversation than an actual interview. My fiance stood next to me the whole time. He asked if I lived in the united states before and on what visa, where did we meet, what did my fiance do for work, where did he work, he asked if we had been in jail before and if this was the first marriage for both of us. Then he told us everything was in order and that our visa was approved. We we're out of the embassy at 8:45 am. Our overall experience was very good.
