Our interview went so well...
We stayed at the Formula 1 hotel which is a 15 minute walk to the consulate. If you take 1 taxi, it costs R$7.00 We arrived at 6.30 am to wait in line. There are 2 lines there, 1 for Non Immigrant visa´s and 1 for Immigrant visa´s which is where we needed to be. As time passed more people came which was good because we were in contact with them for quite some time on another site so made waiting less stressful.

Once it was time, one guard came and took the names of who was there, and their place in line. We went in and passed through security and then proceeded to the second floor where 1 employee checked our name again and gave 1 paper of the correct order of the papers.

People:Be careful of the picture, the ears need to show !! we were told to go take new pictures.

Once completed he double checks for errors and told to go to 1 window to hand over the forms. There they checked the documents for a final time, and asked if I was there too and advised that I can participate.

after the window, she was given 1 number and then the wait started. We waited a good 30 minutes

Once our number was called we went to room #3. There we sat in front of 1 glass window together and spoke with 1 officer. She was really nice to speak with made the interview really relaxing. (which I needed, I was a nervous wreck)

While my fiancee was giving digital finger prints, the officer started to ask me questions to start the interview. She only asked basic questions, like when we met, where we went while I visited and about my work.

When she asked my fiancee questions she asked only where she lived, for how long, how we communicate, (MSN Chat, and phone) and basic question about my family. She did not ask to see any doucuments I brought with me like chats, ´phone bills, pictures....

That was it....she then said our visa was APPROVED....the interview took all of 10 minutes.

All went well at the interview. The only problem is the rude lady checking documents.Told her she was missing documents.we had to ask her 3 times to recheck because we think they are there.Very rude.papers were there and correct..Also Made her go take more passport style pics. Her's were already correct.I had checked and triple checked them.Maybe she has kickback setup with store across the street.Interview person was nice.General questions for about 15 minutes.Passport/visa to be mailed.wow what a long trip this has been.

The Interview could not have been easier. The only thing she complained about was the long wait which we have no control over. She said she was in the interview room all of 10 minutes and she was done. Thanks to this site for all of the great information on here. Now on to the next step.

Easy, easy, easy!!!
My fiance was with me, what made things even more easier - plus we had every single form checked twice. But the most important thing seemed to be the Affidavit - so go prepared.
The interviewer was a nice, very polite lady. She asked a few questions previously answered in the forms - probably to make sure we weren't lying.

Don't worry guys. The hardest part is the LONG wait. Bring a book and breath deeply.

My interview experience was very good. After so many months of stress, I feel the need of to say to all people that are going to the interview (in Rio de Janeiro) that nobody there in the consulate wants to keep you away from your loved one. The opposite...they are there to make it happen. Just make sure you have all they request and it will be quite smooth.
I went to Rio de Janeiro the day before my interview, because need to be there about 07:45am. My Hotel OK, was ok. I pay $60 with a good breakfest(summer is more expensive), the walking is about 5 to 10 minutes until the embassy. I went alone. So, before I used google maps to know my steps there.
I arrive there my 07:30 and there was about 6 people in this line for imigrants (some with the loved ones, some with mother, or sister or friend, they can go inside with you, for to talk with the consul just the fiance/fiancee can go together, but have a room with tv, magazines, and water and some toys for the kids too . I believe that that morning was about 12 people in this line. The other, for tourist was looong line, about 50 people there...
Well, they ask us to go in about my 08:30, then they see your bags and keep the cell phone and eletronics there...so, we go to one floor up and there is the room with tv, water and magazines...so, the person who is near the door give to me two paper (one is for to write and adress where you are in Rio, and your cell phone in case they need to contact you that day; other is the list for you to put all the paper in the right arrangement)..so you wait and the person will call name by name to check this. So, in this moment, he told that my picture was not good enough, I have no big ears but they wanted to see more anyways...so, I let my paper in a chair near him, and wait to take the picture near the consulate (very fast, 10 reais). So went back and give the documents for the person and he say for to go inside of one cabinet with my papers, there was another person that basically did the same that the other man, check all the documents but this time they keep it..and give an password...so..I went out and wait for to talk with the consul...that moment was difficult...long wait, is the time that they process all our informations...they didn´t call number by number (I believe that they call the process that is ready first) so, the consul call my number it was about my 11...and I went inside of this cabinet, where have a glass separating me from the consul. So, I was quite exhausted with the wait and stress...and she was very suave. The first thing she ask was for me to give my fingerprints, and she spoke in portuguese...after this, she ask me for to put my right hand up for the swearing..and after this she ask me for to sign some papers and then just keep checking all my forms and sponsor papers, while asking me about me and jeff...our plans, our history...this was very nice moment and then she said: congratulations Alessandra, your visa was granted. Have a nice trip and a good new life there with Jeffrey.
ahhh the best moment since the start of this process...(I talk with the consul for about 10 minutes, not more...but who is outside yet, thinks is an eternity)
Some women that was there was needing to go back home, and send by mail some documents that was not correct (one was the police certificate and other was the sponsor $numbers...) so they don´t need another interview...just to send this papers and then they will receive the visa in home too.
The consulated say for us to pay for the mail service, no option to wait 2 days and take the visa there anymore. I am still waiting my packet arrive here with the visa, passport and the selead brown envelope for to give to the officers in USA when I arrive there), but I already receive last friday one email from the consulate that my packet is with the mail company already. So, I will receive this in the next 2 days I think.
that is it for now.
Any question, I am here for to help.
Good luck to everyone!
Ali
