Review Topic: K3 Visa

Quick and easy. 15 minutes. A brief review of paperwork, and 3 questions:

1. When did you meet your husband?
2. Where did you meet your husband?
3. How did you come to meet your husband?

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Visas were approved.

Nina, her daugher and I couldn't sleep nor could we wait..we left the hotel at 6:30 for the consulate. We arrived that at 7:06. A line had already formed and they were letting people onto the consulate grounds. We showed our letter, but no one showed us to the much shorter "red" line. An actual red line on the ground for K1, K3, and DV Lottery appicants with appointments. After reading on here that there should be a special line, I asked and was directed to the appropriate line. We were 5th in line.

They allowed us into the building at 7:35. We were given a number and were asked to taked a seat. We were called to a window at 8:00. Here they took all of the paper work that was requested in the interview letter. They did not request any supporting documentation at this point and to my surprise did not take my letter of employment, only my I134. At 8:10 they called our number and we paid for the visa. The cashier carefully checked every bill for the slightest of defects and used a marker to verify the money was legit. She gave us our receipt and then told us to have a seat.

We were called to a window at 9:00. The guy in the booth looked youthful and was pleasant. He greeted us with a friendly hello and I gave him back a West Virginia "howdy". He asked if Nina would need a translator and we said, yes. He then asked if I spoke Russian. My reply was no, I know some phrases. A young woman was standing behind him and she gave Nina directions about having here fingerprints taken. They took Nina's fingerprints, had to take them 3 times because the computer program wouldn't save them. I joked with the guy that technology is great when it works. He smiled and said he needed to back out of the program and retry, that the machine was reading her prints, but wasn't saving them. To my relief, that worked, they had her fingerprints. They then had her swear in. They asked her how we met. He asked me how we met. He said he could see from my visas in my application that I had been to Belarus several times. They asked Nina if she had ever been out of Belarus. She explained when and where. The CO asked me when we met. I told him 2001 and he said he would guess we had lots of phones calls and he was smiling. I said, yes. He said your visas are approved, but due to regulations they would need to do a 24 hour background check, please bring the passports back tomorrow morning and we would then be able to pick them up in the afternoon.

I was really surprised, that was it. I thought we were going to go to an office somewhere and sit down, but everything transpired right there at the window. At 9:07, we were leaving the consulate....APPROVED.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Iryna got to the Embassy at 7:45 AM after going through the search she was allowed to enter into the Embassy she said everyone was very friendly they called her to window one and took all of her paperwork and then told her to go sit down then about 30 mins later they called her to window two and had her pay the visas fees of 200USD for her and her daughter, then right after that they called her to window three and issued her the oath and when the consulor found out she could speak English she tod the translator she could take a break and while she was scanning Iryna's finger prints she asked her only 3 questions 1. when was the last time you met Larry? 2 Have you ever been to the states? and 3 Do you have a wedding date planned after she answered these she was told ok you can come back at 3 today to pick up your passport with your visa in it! Overall she said it was a piece of cake and all the people there were very friendly.
