Review Topic: K1 Visa

My full review in Spanish is here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/308503-k1-en-argentina/page__view__findpost__p__5211376

I had an appointment for 9 AM, and I arrived 15 minutes earlier. They told me that I didn't have to wait in the same line as the people with tourist visas but go ahead and wait next to the window 1. After a few minutes, they gave me a paper that allowed me to go inside the building

They've changed the security guidelines about the things you can bring with you inside the embassy. They will NOT hold your cellphone for you at the entrance anymore, so you need to LEAVE YOUR HOUSE WITHOUT YOUR CELLPHONE. The other option is to leave it a van that is parked near the embassy, where there's someone who will hold it for you for a fee. This is not an official embassy thing, but I heard the embassy employees say that this person has been working doing this for more than 20 years.

After passing security, there's a fingerprinting station before entering the building. I let them know that I was there for an immigrant visa, and they took my fingerprints with a scanner

Then I entered the main building. I let them know I was there for an immigrant visa, and they gave me a number, and a green folder with the order in which you have to put the documentation. The list asks for copies, but if you've already handed in the copies with the packet 3, you don't have to provide copies again. Just put anything that you haven't turned in before.

The consul's secretary called me in to window 5 (on the left of the room, behind a door) by my number, and I handed in the folder with the documentation. She checked my documentation against a list she had, and gave me a paper to use to pay the fee.

With that paper, I went by to the waiting room and waited to be called to window 12 by number. I paid the fee in pesos, and I went back to sit down near window 5.

After everyone who was there to get an immigrant visa handed in their documentation, there was about an hour or so where they didn't call in anyone to window 5. I guess they used this time to review all the documentation that had been handed in during the day.

Then they started calling in for the interviews. I was second in line, so I finally got called in near 11 AM. A different person than the one who received my documentation interviewed me. The interview lasted about 10-15 minutes. Some of the questions asked were:

How did you meet?
What does your fiancé do for a living?
Was your fiancé ever in Argentina?
How long did your visits to the US last?
Who does your fiancé's son live with?
What kind of job will you do in USA?
Did you ever have any problems with the police?

After a while, he told me that I was approved, and I don't remember much of what he said after that.

He gave me a paper with instructions to arrange delivery with DHL. They've changed the system, from what I've read in previous review. Now you can choose to pick up your passport at a DHL location for no extra charge, or you can have it delivered to your house for an additional fee. You have to do this from a website, because the DHL office that was working inside the embassy is not there anymore.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Before the interview i had some doubts and i sent them by email to the embassy, they answered me every doubt i had within 2 - 3 days
Also my interview was scheduled for 16th feb 2012, I wrote asking if there is an open spot before that time, i would like to speed up my case because I have a daughter that needed to start school as soon as posible. They contacted me when a spot opened to see if i wanted to take it.
In the embassy it self all was great. Perfectly organized and what call my attention was the friendly manners the consul as well as his secretary had.
I had my interview with my 3 childs, and all of them felt same way i felt about the embassy. It was really a very nice experience.
The only thing i would like to be faster is the deliver of my visa after the interview, is been one week since, and still i didnt receive it. But i cant complain coz even when i know for most people it take less time, the consul told me it could take one or two weeks.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

I can't believe the waiting is over!!
My fiance and I got there 10 min before our appointment(2 p.m)We went to the window and a man cheked my appointment and gave us two tags to show the security men,and avoid the line(there was a huge line up for other visas outside). So I left my cellphone and passed the security checkpoint.
Then the receptionist cheked my appointment and told me to get my biometrics inside and go back to her.
After getting my figerprints went back to the reception and the girl gave us a green folder with instructions on how they want the papers arranged and a number. She said we would be called by this number to hand all the paperwork.
After 10 min our number was called and we went to window 17 to hand all the papers and additional photos to a very nice lady. She checked and took what she needed and told us to go back to the waiting room and wait to be called again to pay the visa fee (350 Dollars CASH)
So we payed and took a seat until our number was called again to enter the Immigration interview room.
After 15 min we heard our number and my heart jumped out of my body...
We were received by a friendly woman in a private room. She asked us to take a seat and then she started with the Oath.
The interview was very simple, I just signed a few papers, gave her the 350 fee receipt and then she proceded with the questioning...
She asked: "tell me about how you two met and how the relationship developed"
then she said I see you brought MANY pictures, I'll go through them and you tell me when and where these were taken. We went over 10 pics probably and then she said, OK enough. We are not going through them all they are too many and I believe in your relationship.
Lastly she asked my fiance about his job, questions like: "what do you do for a living, how long have you been working at your current job, etc"

Then she said CONGRATULATIONS! your case is approved and you'll be getting a K1 visa to enter the US.

Then she went on about all the legal procedures and she told me about the closed envelope I will be receiving with my passport.
Then she gave us a little yellow paper to pay DHL for my passport delivery (55 pesos to Córdoba)

It was easier than we thought and it only took a few minutes. We left happy and pleased

Now Im ready to book my ticket and go home
