We had our interview yesterday, May 5 2014, at the USCIS office in Fairfax, VA. I am the USC and my wife is the beneficiary. We were scheduled for 8:40 a.m. and got there around 8:00 a.m. with a bunch of documents, namely: all the originals for the documents that we sent with our application, a photo album, and some more evidence (copies of debit cards in both our names, a voided check that shows both our names, and latest bank statements for our joint checking account; joint health insurance; joint dental insurance; 2013 tax return - which I filed as single at first because my wife didn't have an SSN but as soon as she got one, we ammended it to Married Filing Jointly; receipts for wedding bands; plane tickets, hotel tickets and different other tickets from our latest trip and for our upcoming trip; forms from work showing that I have listed my wife as beneficiary in case something happens to me; also, I recently started a new job so I brought my latest and only paystub and a letter f... read complete review

Our officer wasn't at all threatening. It was one of the best experiences I could have hoped for.

I guess in my signature you will see our timeline. We sent our papers April 10 and our interview was yesterday June 24th at 1:30 pm. I'm the Beneficiary and my husband (USC) the petitioner. We arrived at the Fairfax office around 1:10pm. Went through security and then arrived at the waiting room. The lady at the front desk took our interview notice paper and asked us to sit down while we waited. We grabbed some magazines and talked, about stuff, just like any normal day. There were about 4-5 couples there when we arrived. Around 1:50 a happy-looking officer came outside and talked to the lady at the front desk and then he said "well I have one paper left here and only one couple left. so that must be you!" and I raised my hands, as if I had wone a prize. He asked us to come inside to his office. He gave us a really good vibe and I was thankful he seemed to be in a very good mood.
He came inside his office and we proceeded with the "I solemnly swear.." to... read complete review

Our interviewing officer was very nice. We weren't separated. We took evidence (photos, cell phone records, bank statements, receipts from honeymoon, etc), but the officer didn't look at them. He just put them in our file and said that they would review them when we applied for lifting of restrictions. I assume this happened because my husband came on a fiance (K1) visa, so we already had established our relationship as genuine. The interview took all of 20 minutes. He asked us how we met, if we did long distance, where we live, about the wedding and our plans for the larger wedding next year (because we're having international family come next year), and other super minor stuff. Turns out the application for work authorization and travel permission ARE INCLUDED in the I-485, which we didn't know. No extra cost. Wish someone had told us. Would have made life a lot easier.
The only problem: Dulles POE officer either didn't forward the vaccine paper or it was lost in the ... read complete review

Straitforward interview. My spouse's command of English is intermediate so no interpreter was needed. A few questions about how we met, what have we done together since married. Provided photos and proof of commingling funds, insurance and IRA beneficiary. Learned that the I-130 concurrent filing was not needed. And medical report was not asked for. Both wasted money.
