Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

August 6, 2009: We were there early of course, but we were suprised to be called right on time! The waiting room is upstairs. As you walk up the stairs, you see everyone looking at you, because you are entering into the middle of a large room with everyone's chairs configured toward the middle. Every so often a door marked "Do not enter" opens and an interviewer calls someone to come in! Our reviewer was very nice and professional. We brought 6 inch deep box full of papers as well as our entire wedding album, other pictures, etc. He asked to see our bank statements, our apartment contract information, other bills we share, and our pictures, as well as our ID. When we offered to find another document, he said no, that's not necessary, and showed us the two 3 to 5 inch files he had on us already! He did ask several questions (how we met, how old my husband is, pretty basic stuff) and then told us he would recommend us for a conditional permanent residence card! He ga... read complete review

He is cool! The questions are about "our relationship" , how did we meet? job of my husband, and so and so forth. I am a little bit nervous though but I have the faith that I am approved! My husband was with me on my interview, and he asked to my husband some few questions too. He took my I-94 on my passport and then put stamp on my paperwork, saying approve! Then he gave paper saying..congratulations you are approve...and need to wait within three weeks till my Green card arrived. That is all.

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

This is my review for the Seattle USCIS office for my wife's interview for her Green Card.

We were scheduled for 1:30 interview and got there at 1:10. There were quite a few people waiting in the lobby. At 1:20 the USCIS office called us in. He was smiling and very friendly. He explained to us that we will be going over my wife's application just to confirm that everything is still current and up to date.

The first question he asked my wife was "when are you due?" She is 7 months pregnant and it said so in the medical report. He then explained to us that he will read off a name and my wife would have to tell him if she knows that person or not. So he asked, "Do you know somebody by the name of (insert name here). My wife said no, never heard of him. He then asked if she had ever been to California. She again said no. He then said "Good, that's all you needed to say. Just what I needed to hear".

So he continued with the interview. Just went ... read complete review

Everything went so well. We arrived sometime before 2pm for a 2.30 appointment. The lady that seemed the nicest (and the one we hoped to get) called my name at 2.40pm.
We had to swear ourselves in and sit. She explained how the interview was going to proceed and then started. She first asked the mandatory questions: name, birth, address, etc...
Her first question regarding our relationship was about how we met which she asked directly to me (the alien) but my husband contributed the details. It seemed to be going pretty well.
Frankly, after that question, there weren't many others. We started talking about local life and events and places to visit; and while we were still talking she stamped my passport in approval.
She said it would take from 1 to 2 months to get the green card in the mail but in the meantime the stamp in my passport would suffice for any travel and proof of residency (the stamp itself is valid for a year). Apparently the 1 to 2 months wait... read complete review

Had interview on Feb 24, 2009 We arrived 45 minutes early lady called us
We went to office took oath asked how we met and what are her plans in U.S. (work or school or stay home). Asked for proof of Marriage we gave just joint bank statement and insurance papers (I think lease agreement would be best or home owners statement) Then we were done 10 minutes max. She would not tell us her decision said we would get decision in 3 weeks but only took 2.
interviewer was all business but it was fast.
