Wife with F-1 study visa; we submitted I-130 and I-485 received Chicago lockbox May 30, 2012. Biometry about 6 weeks later. No RFEs.
Had a few complications early on after weeks passed and no biometry appt, but got that cleared up calling many times and sending in requests for clarification too. Appt today went very well with 130 and 485 both approved.

My AOS process was long and somewhat difficult (had a home visit that really scared me and made me get a lawyer almost after a year of filing my petition). I was really worried about the interview given the issues we had before, but the IO was very nice and only asked a few basic questions. She looked at our pictures and quickly browsed through the evidence we brought, and then approved us. I've always thought that the home visit must have gone well for the interview to be this simple, however besides that I have to say that the IO was a pleasure to deal with. It felt like a friendly chat more than an interview.

We arrived 30 minutes early, checked in then went to the restroom. After going upstairs, we were immediately called by our interviewer.
Officer Hyatt conducted the interview with petitioner and beneficiary. She made small talk about our lives, including children since beneficiary is pregnant. Towards the end, officer Hyatt asked some formal questions that we've already answered on the I-148 form. Then she told us beneficiary's green card will be mailed to us within a month, usually in two weeks. Fast, easy and low stress.

the interview was less than 15 minutes. the officer asked when did we registered and hosted the reception. then we showed them the pix of the events. then officer asked who cook at home, what is the occupation of the petitioner (not the applicant for AOS), what are now shared between us (such as checking account) and we brought the latest bank printout with both names on the account. She specifically asked when was that checking account was opened, and I told her 1995, and that is the primary account that I get my salary and pay off all expenses.
The she checked our wedding bands carefully (over 10 seconds!). Lastly, she went through the questions of the I-131 regarding "felony, etc" section almost one by one.
At the end, she informed us the decision will be made as soon as possible. And she didn't give us any prospective date. In fact, we got the notice of approval (via email) 5 days after the interview, and received the green card 12 days after... read complete review
