Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

After 1.5 years of AOS submission, I finally had my interview! I arrived at 12:30 but waited an hour before I was interviewed by an officer. My husband came with me but only I was called into the interview. This was odd because every review I’ve read required your significant other to attend so I asked the lady officer at the end of my interview and she said sometimes there’s no need for the petitioner to be interviewed but it’s nice to have them be there.

Questions she asked were to confirm the information on the application form, asked me who I live with, what I do for a living, how he proposed. Mostly the basics, though one question threw me off, she asked about my first visit to the usa, the second, the third, etc etc. Since I used to live in Canada, travelling to the USA was easy so I listed out like 10 visits to the USA previously. Good thing I printed my i-94.

Forms I gave her are my husband’s new Affidavit of Support, ... read complete review

The interviewer was nice, polite, and friendly, he checked our papers and started asking questions from there, we were super prepared but keep in mind as long as u have a real marriage you’ll be fine, thats why it was not a difficult interview

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Had AOS appointment today. Started close to on time. Had a really lovely lady. Asked usual questions about where we met, what happened then, who proposed and under what circumstances. Asked a bunch of other pretty basic questions to ensure we are legit (about family and when we met etc.). Had originals of all the previously submitted items. Looked at our passports, driver's licences, etc. Showed insurance card, joint bank account, car insurance proof (all having our address on them). Showed both our recent W2s with our matching address. After a chat about us and what we do for work etc, copied all our new documents, said we would get more info (hopefully the green card) in the mail in a couple of weeks.

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We arrived around 9:45 for our 10am appointment. There was a long-ish line to even get in the building which we did not account for unfortunately. They were checking IDs and notices and it took over 10mins to get into the building. After that we had to put all our belongings in bins to go through the metal detector. They are extremely strict on what's brought in, even my airport approved multi-tool keychain they flagged, delaying us more. So bring as little as possible!

After hurrying through that we were a couple minutes late getting to the 2nd floor and checking in, I was super worried, but the worker checking us in was quick and super nice and said it was no problem. We waited another 10 minutes or so to be called in for our interview.

The interview was relaxed. He went over basic questions with my husband, clarifying when he entered the country, what type of Visa he was on originally, his job status, and our new address. Study your dates, years includ... read complete review
