Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Based on the other reviews I was expecting a cake walk. Nope.
I am the 'immigrant'.
Appt was at 1:30pm, we got there at 1:15pm and were called at 1:40pm. Escorted upstairs and to his office by the inteviewing officer. On the way up in the elevator he asked if I had my Biometrics appt, I said yes, on June 13, 2006. Were asked to sit down with me on the right side. IO sorted through some papers, asked us to stand and swear under oath. Then came the questions... We were asked:
- our ages (I'm 8 years older)
- our previous marriages, any children. The IO asked my husband quite a few questions about his previous marriage, when married, for how long, why it ended
- about our engagement
- about our wedding
- about our courtship and visits before I entered on K1
- my husband about his education, job history and plans for the future
- me about my education and what line of work I plan on looking for
- me about my family

Got to USCIS office 30 minutes early, and got called in right away. The interviewer just asked a few simple questions. He then denied the EAD and AP, saying that we were approved for AOS! HE said that green card will arrive in less than two weeks. The interviewer was very friendly, joking around a bit.

Our AOS interview was great. The officer was polite, efficient, friendly, and he obviously enjoyed his job. He made us feel comfortable. No surprise questions, just verification of information, how did you meet etc. He gave us our stamp and off we went. I am incredibly impressed with this phase of the process. It seems if you live in the right area it can be a quick process - 78 days for us! Our name chack was back very fast as well - just 33 days after biometrics. I thought they did an excellent job in San Antonio - be thankful if you live in it's jursdiction.

Went smoothly - The officer only talked to my husband about his work in IBM and how we met ! Once we told him we met at work in Paris he did not ask anymore questions - He only asked me 3 questions ...
If I ever had trouble with immigration
If I had ever been arrested
and if I only had the 2 daughters that I mentionned on my papers (who by the way live in Paris since they are 28y and 30y) that's it
We got approved but PENDING the name check so we did not get the stamp in the passport and had to wait for the name to clear up !
Pretty easy - 20 minutes total ............ no stress at all !
