We had our interview for AOS on Portland, OR today December 2nd, 2009. We had the appointment at 8 am. We arrived to the office at 7:30 am. Found good parking across the street from Union Station, 2 blocks from the USCIS office. The guards were very nice. We pass the security screening, we can bring cell phones, bags and electronics. Just take them out the bags and pockets before going to security check. Then we went to room 106 and leave the appointment notices in a basket outside the room. Wait in the room to be called. At 8 o\'clock the officer took our appointment letters from the basket and called us. Very nice young officer. he greeted us and took us to his desk. He took us the oath and asked for our IDs (passports). He opened our big file that he already had and asked some questions: if I arrived on the day I said on the form, went to the Yes and No questions in the I-485 form. Asked if we had engagement rings, and we showed both engagement and wedding rings in our hands. Then a... read complete review

Overall a very good experience, the IO was friendly but efficient.
She mostly made us feel comfortable and treated us with respect.
We believe it was because we were confident and prepared ourselves.

Our appointment for Brian's Adjustment of Status hearing was yesterday morning. We came early, armed with a binder of original documentation as well as one full of copies of the documentation in the first binder. Brian was very nervous and I don't think he'd slept much the night before. Poor soul! So into the building we went, past the nice security guard and into the waiting room. Since we were early, we saw a number of agents calling folks. One agent was very cranky about her appointment being late. Brian was hoping we didn't get her and we did not. Our agent (last name Martin) was friendly and after questions about how we met, what did I do, what was his social security number, she told us we were approved! Yay! All in all a pretty positive experience.

Waited about 5-10 minutes past time of scheduled appointment... (better than the doctor's office!) Appointment lasted about 30 minutes total... Would give the experience an 8.5 on a scale of 1-10. IO was very nice, and friendly, but also serious and asked the questions I expected, and was highly focused on one issue that I NEVER would have anticipated... But still, not bad at all....
