Review Topic: General Review

I have overstayed my visa for more than 5 years. My husband petitioned me a month after we got married, he was an LPR then. After he got his citizenship last year, we immediately sent the forms i-485, i-765, approved i-130 (our lawyer upgraded this to ‘spouse of US citizen’).
Okay so we had our AOS interview yesterday in Newark. Our appointment is for 2:30 pm. I’ve read some things that having an afternoon appointment is not a good sign, well they couldn’t be more wrong in my case. My husband and my 5 year old daughter were with me.
We parked in a parking lot just across the building, around 1-2 min. walk. We entered the building and went through security inspection. We then went up to the 13th floor (via elevator, of course). There was a female security guard who asked for my appointment letter and id’s from both me and my husband. We entered the waiting room, I honestly expected it to be jampacked, but the amount of people was fair. I then handed my appointmen... read complete review

My wife and I arrived at 9am as per request of our lawyer. The interview was scheduled at 10am. We were called in at 11:30am ( the wait was really agonizing). IO was very nice... Interview was done in 5 minutes!

Oh well its my time to share my experience for my AOS interview. But please bear with my english im not native speaker. This forum really helps me a lot to prepare for our Interview. I came here in America with B2 or tourist visa then changed my status to F1 studied for 3 yrs.

First we known each other since 2005. But out relationship turn romantic on 2009. 2009 we start dating then june 2010 we got married. On Sept 2010 we filled a petition for I-130. We have a lawyer but we pay him $3000 just to process our papers and be present on the interview. My husband is the petitioner. Then got fingerprinted. On Dec 2010 we received a letter from USCIS for a interview and it was schedule on Feb 2011.3 weeks before the interview I was really stress about the interview. I keep on reading forums in different sites what are they experience. Ok to keep my story short.

I would say that me and husband is lucky. We are a green card winner yahooooo...

I read through the recent reviews for Newark and thought we were in for an easy ride but it was a bit tougher than anticipated!

So here's how it went... We drove into Newark about 45 minutes early for our appointment at 2.30pm and parked at a nearby parking lot (which was $11 for 2 hours). It was a 2 minute walk to the CIS Office and once we arrived, we went through security which was fine. Then we went up to the 13th floor where we were asked for ID and the appointment letter by a guard. She directed us to a room full of people and told us to go to window number 1. The lady there took the letter and directed us to another waiting room next door where there were only about 5 couples waiting. Everyone seemed to be going through quickly and coming in and out every 10 minutes or so.

I had read the reviews about everyone going in on time so expected us to be called at 2.30pm. However, we were kept waiting intil 3.00pm before a young asian lady called us in. ... read complete review
