Review Topic: Lifting Conditions

Had my i-751 interview today in New York City. It was scheduled for 1pm and we got called in by a very friendly officer around 1:20.

She swore us in and the first thing she asked was, "I have read your file a bit, what is your situation?" I told her straight out, "we are legally separated." And that was all I said about that. I had all these plans to explain and I completely clammed up, I was pretty nervous.

After that she asked our addresses and dates of birth. She asked when we met. Then she asked to see originals of any joint assets or co-mingling of finances. I stated that we didn't have much from the present as we had a separation agreement and had severed financial ties, but I gave her the very few things we did have from the past. I felt awkward as we had already got an RFE about this and I really hadn't been able to dig much up. I had a Macy's card with some charges on it, and then leases, life and health insurance and an IRA. We explained we had n... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

I hope some of you find this helpful: This was about my adjustment of status interview in Sept of 2010, which I think I posted in the wrong place...

My interview was scheduled at 9:45, In Sept of 2010 in New York City. I am married to a USC and was adjusting from a TN visa that had expired March 2009. I was very worried as I had crossed the border to Canada to get married and come back here again, without even thinking about the fact that my visa was invalid (sheer stupidity on my part...). I had also got engaged and then got a new TN-- which I was worried would look possibly like some kind of intent to immigrate on a non-immigrant visa. All in all many things I did could have been construed the wrong way, but the truth was, I was just really uninformed and had never intended to immigrate here, even after marriage (we got my husband\'s Canadian papers earlier this year, but he changed his mind on moving there so I went the AOS route a lot later than I should have). I was... read complete review

GARDEN CITY NY (Long Island)

This is our experience:

We arrived 1:45 PM for a 2 PM interview. You get scanned thru security and directed to a window like DMV. The lady took Tiff's appointment letter. Then you wait, we waited about a half hr, then they called about 10 people's names, and asked if anyone needed a translator. Then we all went upstairs. Then we waited another half hr or so. Finally an interview officer called us, and we introduced eachother. She was not unpleasant, but not the most friendly. Quite professional.

During the interview, she asked us for ID. Then she actually asked me more questions than she did Tiff. It started with my pedigree, then how we met. Where we met, what I do, have I ever been married, I am 15 yrs Tiff's senior, so there was a question directed at Tiff about how old I was when we met (To which Tiff answered wrong).

Tiff's questions were quite simple, when did you come to the USA, did you ev... read complete review
