Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Our appointment went very well and the officer who interviewed us was friendly and warm. It both felt like an interview and just a formality because he seemed to already have a positive opinion of our case. He only took 2 papers out of the 2" worth of evidence and forms we brought with us in a binder. He seemed surprised that after he went over all the questions on the i-485 form that there were no errors and he didn't have to change anything. He was very impressed with our evidence we had previously provided, how thorough we were and how we presented our evidence we brought with us. He literally refused to take anything besides a copy of our sons birth cert. and his paternity test. He didn't want the updated I-864's or taxes or paystubs or proof of our relationship. I offered to provide proof of his insurance which was new, for the i-944 and he said "nah, you don't need it, its a stupid form (i-944) anyway." YES he actually said that. 😮 He said he wasn't going to split our... read complete review

Showed up 15 minutes before the appointment. Security was quick super nice and joked a little.

We got to #501, gave them the appointment letter and sat down. About a 15 minute wait and only a few people already there. Interview was pretty straight forward.

Husband (petitioner) was asked:

-His name
-When I was born
-Where I was born
-If he had started working yet
Then a bunch of questions off the 485.

Asked me:
-His birthday
-His parents names

Then he asked us how we met, when/who proposed, how many times we had seen each other before him moving here January this year. The gentleman was super nice, made small talk, and shared some cat stories. He didn't want any of our co-mingling evidence I had brought. He took our wedding photos and was impressed our cat wanted to wear a bowtie as our ringbearer lol.

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Just back home from the AOS interview, which took around 15-20 minutes.

Parking:

There is a parking garage just around the corner. Turn right on East Lakeside and an immediate right just past East 10th. It’s like almost immediately after turning right on East Lakeside. So watch for it. $8 to park. The walk to the Federal building from there is quick.

Entry:

Construction around the building makes getting in a little tricky. We had to walk through a makeshift path in a flower bed. Not many in there. Security asked what we were there for. After we told them, they said to have a seat, that it would be ten minutes before we could go up.

Fifth floor (501):

There are signs pointing to room 501. It’s kind of hard to miss it. We presented our appointment paperwork and the nice lady at the desk told us to have a seat and someone would be right out.

Interview:

We were n... read complete review

[marraige based; F-1 entry; in-person interview during COVID-19]
The lady was very nice and didn't ask us any hard questions. She seemed to already believe that we are a real couple before talking to us. Probably because our case is very straightforward.
First went through I-485 with me. Didn't ask my partner questions for this part.
Then went through I-130 with my partner. I wasn't asked any questions for this part.
Moved on to inquiry about our relationship - how did we meet, how did we decide to get married, wedding. We got married very soon after we met and we didn't have a wedding. She didn't seem to mind at all. She was almost half-hearted when listening to our stories.
Then we chatted for a little bit. She even shared some personal stories with us. Very sweet person.

Review Topic: Naturalization

Submitting new review as naturalization interview was held yesterday (09/23). Walked into building about 20 minutes before appointment. Had to go through federal building security (metal scanners, x-ray machines). Security were pretty strict about not letting anyone in more than 15 mins before their appointment time, so I had to wait for a couple of minutes before going through the scanners. Face mask was required at all times while inside the building.

Checked in with a very friendly employee at one of the front counters who got me situated and told me someone would be with me shortly. The space is well designed for COVID times i.e. all chairs are socially distanced and there are plenty of hand sanitizer stations around the office. An officer came out and got me right around my appointment time.

The offices are also prepared for COVID-19 safety, with a plexiglass screen between applicant and the officer and hand sanitizer. He asked me some general questi... read complete review
