Overall we had a very pleasant experience through the US Consulate in HCMC. I was aware of reports of rude staff, insufficient service quality and harrowing experiences.

However, our experience involved none of the aformentioned. From the time that our approved petition arrived to the US Consulate in HCMC, through to picking up the visa, we encountered friendly and helpful staff on the phone, through email and at the information booth outside the Consulate.

The interview process was smooth and as expected. The staff my fiancee encountered when turning in paperwork for the interview were helpful and accomodating. She said the consular officer that interviewed her was a very nice American woman that made her feel at ease and comfortable during the questioning.

My advice: this process can be harrowing or it can be what you make it! Half the battle is how you approach and communicate with those at the Consulate. In the end a true, genuine relat... read complete review

Consulate VN staff was rude. Waited too long for the interview. Consular officer was nice. The VN staff don't seem to know what's happening inside. My fiance said saw someone pick up their visa and the staff gave them the wrong packet. Funny thing is they didn't bother looking for the correct one and told the lady it's hers.

The interview went out very smooth. It took only 15 minutes for the interview, however, it took hours waiting in line. The Consulate officer is very nice and professional. There were only four questions. When did we meet? How did we meet? How is our relationship? Since we first met, how many time your fiance come back to see you?

The tricky request from the Consulate officer was to provide proof that we are not related by presenting our parents' birth certificates and our original birth certificates.

Consulate staff was rude. Waited too long for the interview. Consular officer was nice, although he really didn't acknowledge the applicant. An average high-volume high fraud consulate.

Kim and I had such a wonderful and smooth sailing experience at HCMC.
All expected issues and glitches happened exactly as we anticipated. Emailing is the primary communication method, since HCMC was very responsive and professional to our inquiries. Interview went very smooth. Got the Pink Slip on the interview date. Was recalled and issued GREEN paper the following day. Kim's file needed Police Certificate from Japan, she lived and studied there for 8 years. JP took 2 months to issue it. Kim returned with the PC. Visa was issued the next day.

No complain of abuse of our own, the level is minimal due to lack of training and it's normal for Vietnamese people who in the position of authority to act as if they are the boss of you ... Kim did see a lot of "Vietnamese Staffs" yelling and mocking, almost torturing the beneficiaries when they come in for the interview. People were turned away right at the Files Preparation Windows for missin... read complete review
