My fiancee Duong and I had our visa interview on Friday January 13th. We arrived at the US Consulate around 07:30am. We went through several check points. The first one was a pat down outside the door before you enter. Then they told us to form a line an fill out a white sheet with our information where to send the passport with the visa if interview is aproved. We waited there about 15 minutes or so. Then we went through metal detectors and had to leave our phones there. They give you wooden claim numbers to get your mobile phones back. After we went through the metal detectors they told my fiancee Duong to go to a desk so they can check her appointment letter and other documents. After she did this then they ask her to form a line to get her fingerprints taken. We spent about 1 to 2 hours doing this process. Once they gave Duong a number it took them about 1.5 hours to call up our number. Windows 11-18 there are for interviews. They called Duong and I to window 16. This is the consulate review in Ho Chi Minh City that I attended on Jan. 3, 2017.
6:55am: Arrived at Consulate with already a long line that formed outside the gate. After we arrived, more people came and stood in line. I'd say we were in the middle of the line.
7:30am: Gate started to open and they let everyone in, with greeters checking bags and scanning body with wand. Just an FYI, greeters were very rude and very grouchy, so be prepared to take some abuse.
Once in, they will line you up according to your place in line...there were 5 lines and no sitting down. Don't worry about the Immigrant visa, non-immigrant visa sign, they mean nothing. Greeter will give you a blank piece of paper to fill out, so make sure you bring a pen or two as other people will probably ask to borrow your pen. 7:00am - Arrived consulate on 4 Le Duan St. There was already a line of about 60 people waiting along the consulate wall next to the entrain door. The entrain door doesn't look like any fancy welcome door, instead it looks like a regular metal emergency exit back door of any school in the US.
7:15am - One officer in police uniform and another officer in plain uniform went along the line to remind the everyone to take out passport, passport picture, interview appointment paper, the instruction package letter and had them ready in hands. They also reminded whoever had backpack or case must keep them on hands and not place them on the ground otherwise they would not be allowed to enter the door (I don't know why, probably to prevent a "bomb in a backpack"?). Hello Everyone,
I had an Interview Appointment in this November 29th in my Country (VIETNAM)
I expect to know Which language will I can use to answer Embassy questions?
Yeah, of course, I knew English ( I am a student and studying at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology International University ). However, my fiancée want me to use my 1st Language cause she thought With Vietnamese, I can easy to answer and describe deeply to Embassy.
So, Can I use Vietnamese or Must Speak English?
