I have to say that it was a good experiance, despite having to fly from belfast and stay overnight in london. I met a few real nice people from this site at the doctors and we all sat together in the embassy. I was almost finished my interview before I realized it was taking place, and smiled the whole way back to belfast.
Thanks to all my fellow travellers for all your support and I hope you all have a wonderful new life

To say how nervous I was I must admit that I was made to feel very much at ease with the whole process......Even when I only took 1 copy of one of the forms the lady just made a joke and said "looks like I will have to work for my wages today"....All in all a plesent experiance and the staff there are so polite, helpful and understanding of nervousness...
A huge thumbs up for London

London interview September 20th
Interview entirely procedural and straightforward. Staff pleasant & generally helpful without being friendly.
The waiting area and Qing bit is a bloody nightmare - like a an overcrowded Portuguese airport in the 1970s with a cabin crew strike on. Hot, uncomfortable, overcrowded.
Thankfully was only there for 2 hours.
Ulimately had no probs over the interview/forms - other than having to insist that they hadnt given me my birth certificate back. (they hadn;t)

Interview Experince on 28 Jan, 2004.
Total interview time lasted less than 2 minutes but other couples seemed to spend much longer being grilled. The questions were:
Where/how/when did we meet?
How long have you spent together?
Does your fiance rent or own his home?
Is that where you'll live?
What does your fiance do for a living?
What do you do for a living?
Will you look for work in that field?
Have you a date for your wedding?
Where will you get married?
Quick timetable of events:
Got out of the medical at 9.45am
Asked for official papers at 11am
Interview at 1.15pm
Visa issued at 1.35pm
Total time spent in interviews/medical etc - less than 10 minutes. Time spent waiting - approx. 5 1/2 hours.
Welcome to the United States!

Generally very polite and helpful, and with clear explanations of what was going on/needing to be done.
The queue outside is a bit alarming - be prepared with brolly/coat for bad weather, there's no shelter! The queue supervisors seem pretty together, and keep checking on people's interview times. Inside, quite organised. Consul very polite when twice other staff came to ask him questions and he had to go away (not that I was going to argue when he said 'Do you mind...?" !!!) When it came to them revealing that everything was fine EXCEPT the fact that my medical report hadn't been signed so they couldn't actually issue the visa, they were sympathetic, and did their best to resolve the situation (sending report back to Birmingham, getting it signed, then processing at once and handing me the visa in person).
