We arrived at 8am. No cellphones, laptop, but I DID have my USB key/chip and car keys which had an electronic fob for unlocking. Both were considered an "electronic" item. The girls mentioned there were some cafes on the corner. I found the pharmacy that stores one small bag for 10 pounds. That seemed ridiculous, so I went to Starbucks, and "left" my keys at the counter. The girl was not happy with me, but I was not going to pay 10 pounds to leave a tiny, tiny rental car key! I threw away my USB key as it was a corporate gift.
So we got in.
Were called up after around 45 minutes...by now it's 9:15am. We showed our paperwork, copies AND originals (definitely have copies of everything, b/c they WILL keep a copy of everything.) He asked me about my PhD, and whether or not I had proof from my university that I could complete my research from the US. When I asked him how it went, he replied, "Read Visa Journey. It went just like all the rest of them. Easy."
No issues whatsoever. He said he wondered what all the fuss was about and what people complain about. He said it was very well managed and if people think this is bad, they obviously haven't tried to get visas to other countries before.
The visa came by courier two days later but it took several more days to actually meet up with them as they only give you a day, not a specific time and working that in was hard.
But the end result...we have the visa in hand and he's free and clear to travel. Not much longer now!

So....today was the interview date!!My dad was driving me to London for extra support for which i was very grateful for. I got to sleep last night at 12am and my alarm gleefully sounded 3 1/2 hrs later for me to get up 
After arranging to meet my dad in a nearby cafe when i was finished I joined the line to get into the embassy. I didnt have any electronic items on me which i was glad about as people who had were being directed to nearby shops where they could store them which added to their stress levels im sure!
Anyways..i waited in line for around 30min before reaching the 1st checkpoint where i had to give a guy my passport and interview letter. Then waited a further 20min where i was summond to the next check point and had to do the same to another guy. Then I joined another line and waited to be called into the 1st part of the embassy where your bags went through a scanner (exactly like at airports) Note eop... read complete review

Once again Gareth had wonderful treatment at the London Embassy (he had gone before for a 6 month visitor visa)
Well his appointment was at 8:30 am and I am certain he got called in at that time or before as he was out of there within an hour or two at most.
He said he went in got his number, got called up, handed the required documents over. Went for interview with American Woman. He said he made sure to make lots of eye contact while answering questions. Only questions asked were when we visited each other last (he told of attempted visit in December) said we were saving money so visits weren't too possible after the failed attempt.
She asked him when we met and last time we saw one another and wedding plans. That was it. She told him she hoped he had a better experience with US customs this time around!
Paid his money and visa and passport and envelope marked "Not to be Opened" arrived on Saturday which was not even 2 days later.
