Got to the embassy around 7am, there were a few people waiting, joined the queue around 7.30am (my appointment was for 9am) Got through security around 8.05am. Was given an I number. Sat in the waiting room for around 20 mins then got called up, handed in my birth cert, passport police check etc, paid cashier and returned the receipt. Was told to sit in the waiting room till i was called up again, was called up in around 20 mins for my interview.. Took 2 minutes to answer the questions, then i was approved and on my way, all in under an hour

I got to the embassy at 07:50 for my 08:30 appointment, went through security etc and was seated by about 08:10. There really wasn't much of a queue outside. I was issued an I number, which seemed to be the only set of numbers that were taking forever to deal with as they weren't being called as frequently as the N numbers. I got called up to the first window at around 10, the woman was really nice, she was moaning to me about how much the pharmacy's charge for the visa photos, which helped settle the nerves. She didn't ask for the employment verification stuff and only took one year of tax returns and I think 1 month of wage slips. So I went round the corner and paid and totally forgot to take the receipt back to her! Thankfully I'd only sat down again for about ten minutes before I realised and rushed back to hand it in. So eventually got called up again at about 11:15, greeted by a really nice guy who was very impressed with our application. He said he had read through it and though... read complete review

Writing this on behalf of my husband. His interview was at 8:30 am and he got there around 7:50 am. He brought his stuff in a plastic bag, because we thought you couldn't have larger bags in there, but apparently loads of people had purses/rucksacks, etc. Also he said there were loads of pens available, so I don't know why everyone always said "bring a pen." The only stressful part was the waiting (about 2.5 hours). He was done by about 11:00.

Said they only asked a few questions like how we met, how long we've been married, what I did at my job, and when I started it. He said it was all pleasant and conversational and didn't feel like they were trying to "trap" him or something. He brought only the required documents from the interview letter. The only outside evidence he brought was some wedding and older photos. He didn't need it. So unless you have a very special case or have had a rough ride along the processing journey, don't listen too much into the whole "needing... read complete review

Arrived at 0820 for 0900 appointment, got to security hut at 0900, and got my ticket at 0911.

Waited, and waited, and waited, and got increasingly frustrated as people that arrived after me were called to the windows before me, and worked out that only Window 1 was calling "I" series tickets. I was eventually called to the first window at 1050. The lady that saw me seemed rather stressed, and admonished me for bringing two copies with the original instead of one copy, but confirmed all was in order and told me to go and pay the cashier, then come back.

Cashier was fine, had a bit of a laugh with her, but be aware if you pay by card, they put it through as US Dollars, and the amount that comes out of your account is much higher than the amount they put on the ticket, and your bank charges commission on top of it!! (On my ticket it said £219, and I actually got charged £229 on my statement) Returned to Window 1 with my receipt, told to take a seat and ... read complete review
