After dropping my bag and jacket off at Goulds pharmacy I headed to wards the embassy. On arriving i was asked for my appointment letter, MRV receipt my passport and a DS 160, whihc i did not have as its not applicable to the K1 visa. I then waited in line to go through the security checks which only took about 5 minutes.
On entering the embassy at 8.37 I was given ticket number I914 and then i heded to the waiting room. Every 30 seconds or so it seemed they called out N numbers for the non immigrants which there seemed to be alot more of these than I numbers.
It was 11.45 by the time my I914 was called up and I was asked to go to window 13 (Mal & Meg lucky number) I felt nervous as I walked to the counter with all the folders and pictures i had....
On arriving at the window the girl asked me to confirm my name and then asked if I had done my medical....and i was thinking oh no I told her I had it on the 5th of January so she we... read complete review

Arrived at Goulds chemist at 7.20ish am to find it open already and being run with military precision! Paid 3 pounds for them to store my mobile and off I went to the Embassy - a 3 min walk away. My appointment was at 8.30am so I joined the already growing queue. Waited for about 15mins and got to first checkpoint - had to hand lady my appointment letter/asking about electronics on your person - once checked stayed in queue outside for a guy to check my passport and letter again. We were then called in groups of 4 through security (like an airport).
Once I got into the embassy I went to the front desk, was given a number (beginning with I for immigrant) and proceeded to the waiting room. The room is pretty large with about 8 screens in the middle of it. To the right are a bunch of windows (like in a bank!) with officials sat behind. I sat down and began my wait.
Tens upon tens of N numbers were called, non immigrant studenty types mainly! A few E numbers, ... read complete review

I wasn't actually at the interview, as my fiance was the one who had to attend, but from his point of view: it took about 1 hour to get through security (so arrive early!), then he was called to an area where he submitted the I-134 and supporting documents, as well as the original and photocopy of all other documents necessary for the interview. He then was told to sit down and wait until he was called. About an hour later, he was called again, this time for the interview. The man simply asked him if I was there with him, to which he replied, "no, she's in California, probably asleep", and then he asked him where about my address/location was in the city I live, and then he signed the paperwork and that was it! Then he made arrangements to have the visa sent via courier service. One thing the interviewer mentioned - when you go to make your flights, if you have to make a connecting flight in the US prior to your final destination, he warned Gary to have a 5-6 hour layover, as there is ... read complete review

'Welcome to America'
After all of the stress and worry leading up to the interview, in the end it was remarkably straightforward! A huge thank you to everyone that contributes to this site, as it is by far the best source of information to guide you through this process - especially since the consular website seems so vague at times.
Timeline for my interview:
Arrived outside embassy 8am
Through security 8.10am
Arrived at reception and issued 'I' number 8.15am
Called for documents 10am
Interview with consular official 10.20am
Interview finished and visa approved 10.25am
Courier desk 10.30am
Done!
Yes, the waiting is the worst bit. The vast majority of visas being processed are non-immigrant (N numbers). In the main waiting area there are a bunch of counters/windows numbered 1-11. These are used for taking documents. To the side there are some more windows where the... read complete review

I'm posting this on behalf of my fiance:
I'd been to the embassy before for a J-1 student visa in 2006, so I was preparing myself for the long, tedious wait involved in non-immigrant applications. As it happened, my experience was far more efficient than before, and I was in and out far sooner than I'd expected. I brought a 2-inch thick wad of papers- copies of every single form we'd had to fill out at every stage of the process, originals and copies of my birth certificate, Gina's birth certificate, my police certificate, NOA-1 and NOA-2, relationship evidence etc etc. I even brought my old social security card, proof of the reason why I had been granted one, and evidence for the extension of my previous student visa. I was determined not to get caught short on paperwork!
My appointment was 9:00 on Monday, so I came down to London the day before and stayed with my brother in Islington. I left my phone with him, and arranged to meet him at noon if I didn'... read complete review
