My appointment was at 9am, I got to the Embassy at 8am. I couldn't take my keys in so had to store them in a local pharmacy. Outside, you need to show your passport and your MRV Fee receipt and interview letter. I was inside by about 8:30am. The first desk you see as you enter you have to show your interview letter and the lady put a sticker on mine with my ticket number. You then wait in the main waiting hall until your ticket number is called. I waited about an hour and was called to a window in the main room. I had to provide my passport, police certificate, birth certificate and support (I-134 plus any letters/tax returns). They scan your finger prints (both hands) and then I got given another document and told to sit back down and wait again. I waited maybe a further 70-90 minutes (it feels like longer!) before my number was called again. This time I was at a window down a short hallway. The lady was an American consular officer. She was professional and asked me how I met my fian... read complete review

So here is how my big day went,

I woke up at 6 am, had a shower in the hotel room, and by 7:30 am I was out the door, I had arrived in London at about 10pm the night before, and didnt feel like taking the walk from the hotel to the embassy that night, so figured I would go early in the morning.

It was only a 15 min walk from my hotel to the embassy, so I had plenty of time, I droped my mobile off at goulds and joined the que by 8am. As I reached the head of the que I overheard a little bit of a ruccus, apparently US spouses where being turned away even tho they had arranged with the embassy to join their loved ones, the explenation I over heared was security had decided the day before to impliment it today, so be aware of this if you intend to take your spouse with you.

The que was not that long, a few checks of my appoitnment letter and passport and I was at the security checkpoint. The security was exactly like an airport, exept you dont n... read complete review

I arrived at the embassy about 9.35am for my 10am appointment. First I showed my appointment letter to one of the woman outside in yellow jackets who ticket my name off her list and told me to stand in the visas line. This line wasn't very long and was fast moving. Next I showed my passport and appointment letter to another lady who said to take off any watches and belt for screening and I waited about 2 minutes for to get in the security hut outside the embassy. They were letting in 5 at a time and it was a very quick process I just hand over my bag for scanning and walked through an airport style machine. I wasn't frisked or made to take off my shoes or jacket which I was half expecting.

Once through security I followed the signs for visas until I came to the reception. There a nice lady took my appointment letter and put a sticker on it and directed me up some stairs to the waiting room. The waiting room was very crowded (rough estimate 200 +) but there were plenty of... read complete review

My appointment was for 9.30 and after leaving my bag (£3) and my mobile (another £3) at Goulds pharmacy I joined the queue outside the embassy at 8.45. It is all quite simple really and all the staff including the security guards and armed police are friendly and helpful.

I went up to a group of ladies in bright yellow jackets and after checking my name off the list I was sent to join the queue. It moves quite quickly and 30 seconds later an older gentleman checked my passport, MRV fee receipt, and my appointment letter and told me to stand outside the security hut. You are called in to security four at a time and you place all your belongings including your belt if wearing one in to a tray which is x-rayed as you walk through the body scanner. Collect all your stuff, exit the security hut and follow the building round to the right, up some stairs and in to reception where a lady will book you in and attach a sticker to your appointment letter. I was number I912. Yo... read complete review
