Here's a overview of my interview that took place on August 23rd. My interview was scheduled for 9.30am.
I stayed overnight in London the previous night so I could get to the embassy early knowing how the queues build up quickly from the reviews I've read. I would recommend doing this if you can afford to. I stayed at the Rose Court hotel - about 10-15 minutes walk to the embassy.
I arrived at Gould Pharmacy around 6.50am so decided to walk over to the US embassy and get an idea of where to go - one of the security guards told me they start letting people in at around 7.30am. I walked back to the pharmacy and they opened round 7.10am so I dropped off my mobile and headed straight to the embassy.
We were told to wait outside the room where the airport-style security scanners are located. My interview letter was checked and then another wait. At just after 7.30am we were sent to a guy who checked over my passport and interview letter. Then it ... read complete review

We had our interview yesterday at the US Embassy in London. It went pretty well and we were approved. We expected this as we have been married for almost three years, together for three years before we were married, and are expecting a baby - but you never know, right? One piece of incorrect paperwork or a not nice officer and you can be on your way out the door!
I am the US citizen and my husband is British. We have a bit of a unique case - we started our IR-1/CR-1 visa process in Singapore, where were were living and working. I won't review the Singapore Embassy because the case was actually handled through the NVC and we didn't have much direct contact with the Singapore embassy. Our case was transferred to the UK as we left Singapore in July. It is worth noting that it took the NVC one month to transfer our case from the NVC to Singapore. I had emailed and phoned them asking them to send our files to London, they weren't able to do this although I had given them 6 ... read complete review

This is a review for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad.
Im going to go from the beginning at Kings Cross and St. Pancras to help anybody coming through there! After getting off the train, we headed towards the underground station. Once down there we paid £7 each (after 9:30am I believe) and went to platform 4 (towards Brixton) on the Victoria line. We changed at Oxford Circus to the Central line (towards Ruislip) and got off a Bond Street. Once we got out (with a lot of difficulty with a stroller!) we turned left onto Oxford Street. We walked down probably 4 or 5 blocks until we came to North Audley Street on our left. We turned down there, walked along to almost the end and found Goulds on the other side of the street. An assistant in there took our phones and camera and put them in the small bag for £3. He took my phone number and name and wrote them on the bag and I paid at the counter. They gave me a raffle style ticket back to keep until I wanted my things back. T... read complete review

I arrived at the US Embassy after dropping my phone off at Gould's just minutes before and joined the short queue at around ten to eight.
A few minutes later I was told to place any items that were in my pockets into a clear plastic bag before while I wait for security to check my details. I was ushered forward and they checked my passport, MRV fee receipt and interview appointment letter before being directed through the security hut and to go on to the main building.
Once inside I was given my ticket number and told to sit down. I must have been early as they were calling N1 just as I entered the room!
if you're going, dress light. The room is an oven. Even with my nerves there were numerous people fanning themselves off. There is a passport photo machine but you'll need change. FYI no one accepts American Express in the Embassy.
After about five minutes I was asked to go to window 14 where in was greeted by a British man ... read complete review

I got to the USA embassy at 7:20 for my 8am appointment, they made us queue outside while checking our appointment letter and passport and make sure we didnt have anything like phones, car keys etc with us. Before letting 4 people in at a time through the VISA entry, they checked again appointment letter and VISA fee receipt.
Got through security very quickly and then walked to the entrance, where at reception I was given my number: I902. It was 7:38 when I sat down in the waiting room to be called at 8 at desk 14 where a friendly guy asked for appointment letter, visa fee receipt and passport, went to get my pink folder and started dissembling my file. I was asked for 2 passport photos and my birth certificate. I got it from the Italian Consulate in Edinburgh already in English and he wasn't sure it would be accepted as it had a slightly different format than the usual ones (it had both my parents' names on it!).. he asked me how I requested it, so explained that I had filled ... read complete review
