We were approved on Monday 3rd Dec, so it's happy days all the way! :-D
I won't bore you with the details, as there is more than enough info on the procedures.
Took about 2 1/2 hours in all, and was very smooth, and professional. This was my third time there having gone for J1 visa's for Camp America, and a student visa, so I knew pretty much what to expect. Although you can't help being nervous, I would say just try and keep calm, as at this stage of the process, as long as you have you documents in order, you'd be more likely to get hit by a meteor than be denied!
Handed all my docs in, sat down for another hour or so, then got called to the window for the interview. He was a Asian-American man, and looked about the same age as me (25), and it was more like an upbeat conversation, than an interrogation. How did you guys meet, how long have you known one another etc more like chatting in a pub with a mate. Then he was like "Your visa has b... read complete review

Nothing really that different to report from the other VJers; same process of queuing outside, showing interview letter to get in, then handing over MRV receipt once inside where you get a ticket number. As I know you're all fascinated, mine was I926. I waited for 1.5 hours before being called to hand over passport, MRV receipt, birth certificate and copy and police report. General ID questions asked and fingerprints taken. Then given a courier form to fill out for delivery of passport and told to sit back down until my number was called again.
My name was called about half an hour later and went to the window. Asked to fill in her name and sign my name on a form and then I answered general questions:
How we met?
Where?
What does she do?
How will I support myself financially?
A few family questions about hers and mine...
...and then after maybe five minutes he said my visa was approved! Simple. Long wait but real... read complete review

Interview at the US Embassy - "Your visa has been approved. You're good to go."
10-26-12
It was a very thorough and quite probing interview, and one which was both very fair and measured in a way that made it feel like a conversation rather than an interrogation. I came prepared with documents, written and photographic evidence of the quality and honesty of the relationship, and also some evidence of why I had visited San Francisco so frequently in the previous 5 years. However, he did not want to see any of this. He wanted to hear me talk about the relationship. I was tempted at times to refer to material I had with me, but decided in the end that speaking to him with my eyes open would give him a perfectly true indication of my intentions and integrity.
Some of the questions he asked were:
Is your wife here? Why not?
How did you two meet?
Tell me about her family.
Have you met her mother?
How old is she? ... read complete review

My husband said that is was not quite as painful as it could have been! All in all, it went well. I travelled to the UK to attend and had contacted the Embassy prior to notify them I would be at the interview. We dropped off our things at Gould's and walked back to the Embassy. We got to the Embassy about 7:30am (our appointment was scheduled for 9:00am), spent about 15 minutes where a woman from the Embassy came by to check our appointment letter, checked for me on the list (I was), and let us know that we couldn't take in electronic devices of any sort. We went through security, went to the lobby, got our number, and sat in the waiting area.
While we were there, a rather large group of BBC Orchestra members came in as they seemed to be getting visas for a trip to the states. We got called up to Window 1 after about 30 minutes and had the same Chinese lady that other reviewers have mentioned. Unfortunately, we were next to the window with all the musicians and it... read complete review

So here is my experience of today’s interview (9 November 2012).
My husband (petitioner) and I joined the fairly long queue outside the Embassy at 8.30am for my 9am interview. We got into the Embassy and through security fairly quickly. When we stopped at the reception desk we were given the number I910. We took a seat around 9.05 am and were a bit alarmed because all the numbers being called were prefixed with an ‘N’ – not another ‘I’ in sight! To our great relief our number was called at 9.15 am and we went to window 13. A black lady who at first seemed a little unfriendly started going through my papers and said to Theo ‘Do you want to go and pay for Trudi’s visa at the desk whilst we continue with this?’. Yes! Result! Theo got stuck with footing the bill!! Anyway, whilst he was away paying, the lady suddenly looked up with a brilliant smile and said ‘Your hair is lovely – so bouncy and shiny!’. Folks I was so taken aback I immediately start... read complete review
