Our appointment was for 8:00am today. Yesterday I spent the day doing one last documentation check. I followed the London Embassy Website per the instructions on our Interview letter. I printed out a checklist, recommended by the website, just to make sure we had everything we needed.
Stephen got there at 7:30am. There were about 15 people ahead of him, unfortunately they all had cell phones and had to leave the line to go to the chemist and drop them off. That took some time because they argued and debated. The woman in front of him actually got through and once inside the building pulled it out and started making a call while waiting in the security line inside the building. They made a big stink about that. I don't understand some people.
Stephen got his number around 7:50am and was called straight away. The asian woman took his neatly labeled and organized packed and started going through it. She was terribly rude. She told Stephen he didn't need any pictures, or police certificates, or birth certificates, or marriage license/absolution documents. She kept saying to him, 'you didn't read the website". He politely explained that those items were listed on the website and if they don't need them he can just take them back. "You didn't read it right then" was her response. She made him feel so uncomfortable, he thought he'd never make it to the second interview. In his words, he couldn't do anything right in her eyes. But then she put everything in a plastic bag and gave him a slip of paper and told him to take a seat. He kinda knew then they wouldn't have taken his stuff if she wasn't going to put him through.
About 20 minutes later he was called to the second window by name, not number, and the Asian gentleman there was very nice. He asked Stephen about how we met and when he was planning on coming to America. They then started talking football and both were West Ham fans. They chatted about the recent game, players, how the season was going, and then he told Stephen he passed the interview.
He then went to the courier, paid his fee, and was out of the building and on the train by 9:30. All in all it went well.
Everyone has a different story so when you read my post, and others, keep in mind that every situation is different. It will all work out in the end, its just how we get to the end that's the challenging part.
