Finally, approved & awaiting my passport back with the visa in it!

Appointment time: 9am
Arrived at the Embassy at 8:20, already a long line outside and already getting hot (this was the day it reached 30'c in London)

Reached the security check point by 8:50, showed passport, interview letter & MRV receipt(for fees paid) bag scanned & walked through body scan.

Went through to the first reception desk, showed interview letter & MRV receipt again, they scanned the barcode on receipt & stuck a number on the letter, mine was I-918.

Went through to the huge waiting room & it was hot hot hot, they had huge fans at the front of the room, but all I felt they really did was blow around some peoples really bad body odor - nice!

Took the Metro paper in to read, but really you cant easily read as every 7secs (most of the time) a 'Bing' sound happens to alert you that another number is up on the screen - yes just like... read complete review

Denied visa due to overstay.

Overstay incurred due to being advised by immigration workers at USCIS in Newark NJ that I was within the law and within my rights to stay.

Speaking with immigration officers about the matter gives varying stories, where (given mine and my wife's circumstances) many agree I had rights to stay, while others don't.

DCF CR-1 Visa interview review.

Arrived around 7:30 for an 8am appointment. There was already a queue, but it got moving pretty quickly. A woman was checking people's appointment letters in the queue, and when she got to me with my husband she asked if I'd put him on the access list - said yes, she went off to check, and returned with my interview letter with husband's name written on it.

Went through security then through to reception, where we got our ticket number (I904) and went on into the ugly waiting area. It was pretty busy and even busier by the time we left - looked like a lot of student visas being processed.

After about 20 - 30 minutes, our number came up for window 1. We had a young-ish American man go through our forms. He was fairly jovial. Took my passport, photos, birth certificate and police certificate and my fingerprints.

When we got to the I-864, I let my husband explain what he'd included (our taxes ... read complete review

Dropped off my phone and charger at Goulds Pharmacy (£3), turned right, crossed the road and the embassy is right there. I joined a queue of about 20 people and it moved quickly; showed interview letter once, then again with passport in the queue, then again when you enter the embassy along with MRV receipt. Got given ticket number I907, and sat down in the waiting area. The numbers ping quite regularly, so keep an eye out for your "I" numbers as they are less frequent than the "N" numbers which get called up.
Went to window 13 and handed over interview letter, MRV fee, birth certificate (and adoption) and police certificate and my two photos. Also handed over the affidavit of support, which was the only thing required of the petitioner. The lady then gave me a form for the courier to fill in, then sat back down for another 30 minutes until called up for interview.
The interview was quick and painless. The American guy asked me how we initially met, when I first met her ... read complete review
