Arrived in London the day before interview, appointment was at 8:30am and couldn't get a train down from Leeds that day, thought a good rest the night before would help too. Stayed at the Park lane mews hotel, about 8 min's walk from the embassy, decent price and the staff let me keep my bag their free of charge when I went for the interview.
I went for a walk to make sure I knew the way to the embassy, you really can't miss it, its a massive building with the American flag flying above a golden eagle. Very different from the other embassy's in the area!
Set 5 alarms just in case! but woke up before any of them went off and got ready, just wore shoes, smart jeans and a plain white shirt with no tie. Set off around 7 and arrived more than an hour before my interview.
There were about 10 people in line before me, they started letting people through at 8:45, I was chatting to a lovely woman in the queue behind me which helped as we were both... read complete review

I had my K1 visa interview on the 30th of July. I read lots of these reviews before my interview and found them to be very helpful and accurate.
I would like to share my recent experience as there are a few details that have changed.
Once arriving inside the embassy I was greeted by the receptionist who took me through to the main room and informed me that the computers are down and that I would be called by name for my interview.
I am aware that they are changing over their computer system at this time, so it was probably something to do with that.
There were only thirty or so people in the waiting room. My appointment was for 9am.
At 10:30 I still had not been called, and almost everyone was waiting for their second interview.
Luckily I noticed two other people who had been waiting and not called, i asked them and they were also waiting for the first K1 interview. Another person who was also there for an immigrant visa informed us t... read complete review

I left my house around 5:15am and headed to Richmond to park for the day. Anybody who is traveling East to London may want to look into driving to the same place. Parking is £12 a day (Old Deer Car Park) and you're a very short walk from Richmond station where you can purchase an all day travel card for £11. I arrived in Richmond at 6:30 and jumped onto the train to Waterloo.
We decided to walk from Waterloo as the weather was good and we were fairly early. We arrived at the embassy just before 8:00 am and needless to say the queue was already fairly long. I hopped in the line which was moving slowly, and managed to get through security by 8:30. As you walk into the embassy you will be asked to check in at the reception desk and be assigned a number. K-1 visas are classed as "I" visas, meaning they're for immigration purposes, in comparison to the majority of people who are there for non-immigrant visa types and assigned a number starting with "N".
I c... read complete review

I attended my K-1 visa interview on Friday 19th July at 8:30am.
After reading the advice of others, I decided to arrive at 7:30am. I was right to do so because even at this time there was a long line to get into the embassy. It took about 30 minutes to get through this line, first of all showing my appointment letter and passport to one guard filtering the line, and then past the first security station (a small room glass enclosed room outside the embassy itself). I had a bottle of water in my bag which the security guard asked me to taste, once I did he was satisfied it was OK.
Once past this security checkpoint I walked around the side of the building and up some steps (past a guard armed with a machine gun who I cheerfully bid good morning to and received an equally cheerful greeting back!) into the building. Here there is a desk where you show them your interview letter and passport and they print off a ticket giving you a unique number (mine was I906)... read complete review
