I Arrived in London the day before interview from Anglesey, North Wales, with my appointment at 8:30am August 1st. I stayed at a friends house in Ealing Broadway, a 30 minute trip on the tube, on the west bound central line where I got off at Bond street station. A 10 minute walk to the Embassy.
I set off from Ealing Broadway just before 7, and after dropping off my phone and bag at Goulds Pharmacy for 3 pounds each. I was at the Embassy in line at 7.45am, and it was pretty long even at that time. I finally was sitting down in the waiting room at 8.25am, after they checked my interview letter and passport at a small desk outside, went through security, and again showed my letter and passport at reception.
I waited about an hour to be seen at the first window, where I was greeted by a happy african american woman, who chatted a lot which put me at ease. She was particularly excited about the warm weather that day. I got asked to give my fingerprints, my birth certificate and copy, police report and copy, affidavit of support and any supporting documents I had to go along with it. I then provided my 2 US sized passport photo's and payment receipt.
I then went to sit back down, and waited for about 45 minutes where I was interviewed by a quite serious by kind young man. They took my finger prints again, and asked questions. He asked:
How did we first meet? And what attracted me to her? I made the guy laugh when I asked him if he was familiar to the word banter javascript:emoticon(' ')
He then asked how many times I have visited? How many times she has visited?
Do I get on with her family?
What she studied in college? which college? what grade she got? (I didn't know the grade but knew it was high)
Where she works? Her position? How many people who work there? (I think some of the questions they didn't even know the answer them selves and they just analyse your body langauge)
There was a minute of wait while he jotted down notes on the computer then congratulated me and said the our visa had been approved. At this point I was excited and told me I would get a phone call to arrange delivery and payment of my passport and visa packet, then told me not to open the envelope.
I then headed out the door that took me to reception, and remembered, sh*t courier, because of my excited state I questioned myself if I did it correctly so asked reception where do I pay for delivery. They then told me again I would get a phone call.
There was no need to be nervous, although it's hard not to be. They never tried to catch me out at any stage. Make sure you have all your paperwork and you have nothing to worry about javascript:emoticon(' ')
