Had my interview this morning and must admit I was a little nervous but there really is no need to

I arrived at 7am and was let is at around 8am. Within 10 mins was called to the first window which was window 14 (which is my lucky number!) and nice British man took my passport, confirmation paper, police check and copy, birth cert and copy, AOS along with the W2s (I offered tax transcript but they said W2s where fine). He also asked to see confirmation of payment of visa and for courier.

Then after about 15 mins was called to window 16 where a nice African American lady interviewed me. She just asked how we met, how the relationship had progressed, had I met her family, when was marriage talked about and then the standard have I been arrested before or deported for the US. After that she said my visa had been approved :D

Was defo a better experience than my last visit to embassy when I had a B2 denied. Also like to point out that my B2 deni... read complete review

Arrived a little early, queue took a while but no worries, you don't actually have to be in at your allotted time - just try not to be too late! Gave my letter over to reception, they gave me a number.

Didn't have to wait long until my number popped up on the screen. The guy at the window was pretty light hearted, I got the impression that they mainly care about 2 things: your relationship being real and your partner's ability to support you. My partner didn't have tax returns, she'd only been working a year but had filled in and submitted her tax forms, I took along a copy of them plus all her pay stubs for the past year. That did the trick! Went back to wait.

Not sure how long I waited until being called up for the interview. It was quick, was asked where we met, how long had we been in a relationship and to tell the story of the engagement - it was a pretty elaborate one which we had photographed and included in the initial petition. I think ... read complete review

More of an event to relay the facts of your relationship than to be interviewed per se. For instance, I was asked the following questions, name, date of birth, where you will live in the U.S., when you will go, when will you marry, where did you and your partner meet and what does your partner do for a living. The answers were very basic and they did not require much detail on anything. They checked I had all the correct paperwork, and that was basically it.

There were two negative points to my experience, (i) the charge for leaving items at the chemist around the corner. Complete rip-off but then again they know you have very little choice if you have traveled up to London alone for the interview; and (2) the US size passport photos I was informed to have taken were deemed too big by the embassy assistant and took my standard UK ones instead. The US size photos are almost 50% more in price. Another waste of money. javascript:emoticon('')

So that was much more pleasant than we had anticipated!
Our appointment was at 8am… got to the embassy at about 7.20 and there was already about 20 people in line. Though it wasn't clear, there was two lines and you had to line up on the left to check in with a nice lady which then sent us to the line on the right. I was accompanying my fiance to his interview and she just assumed I was his wife, we corrected her and she like, “close enough javascript:emoticon('')!” Went through security, which was a breeze. I had picked up some breakfast sandwiches and juice and was nervous they would make me dispose them, but it was fine. Thank goodness cause I was starving! Checked in at the desk and sat in that huge room. Things moved pretty quickly from here. Was probably the 10th number called so waited maybe 15 minutes. Got the older Asian lady many people have mentioned on this board and she couldn't have been more pleasant! She was chatting to him about... read complete review

I stayed at the Lincoln House hotel at Gloucester Place the night before my interview. I was scheduled for 10 am, and arrived at the Embassy at 9:15 and joined the left-hand queue to check in. Five minutes later, I showed my letter of appointment to the very friendly check-in lady. I then joined the right-hand queue to go through security. This took about 10 minutes and they took us through, 4 people at a time. Interestingly, when they had us go through the airport-like security, they told us to put our loose change, belts, AND mobile phones in a tray. So… to echo more recent reviews, it appears that mobile phones are now being allowed through security. Don’t bet your future on our observation alone, however!
After security, I turned to the right and went around to the side of the building, went up some steps into the building and to the main reception area. I presented my passport and letter of appointment, and a gentleman affixed my ticket number, I-924, to my appointmen... read complete review
