I won't go into great depth as I'll just be repeating the many reviews already submitted.

My appointment was for 8am, I arrived at the embassy just after 7. They were setting up the desks out front and there was already a small queue forming. I decided to grab a coffee from the starbucks just up the street and drop my phone into goulds for storage on my way back.

As everyone has said theres two lines, the one on the right is for non US citizens, if you have your passport, letter and ds-160 out they'll check them when you get to the desk and ask you to join the queue for security. (This runs next to the first queue, its the one closest the barriers so when you first arrive make sure you get in the one on the left). Flew through security in a few minutes, into the building where you go to the desk in front of you, wait for the woman to finish painting her nails, hand over your documents and theyll put some stickers on your letter with your number on.

I only had to wait maybe 15 minutes for my number to be called out, headed to window 13 where an African American lady greeted me, took my passport, birth certificate and police certificate. Came back after a few minutes with my file, took my i-134's from me and literally flicked through them, said everything was fine and took my fingerprints.

I'm sure I'd read reviews mentioning her as being somewhat rude and off with people, I guess I got her on a good day, she was really nice to me, even cracking a few jokes.

Called for my interview (im not sure how long the wait was, seemed only twenty or so minutes), I was greeted by the African American lady I've read many fond reviews off. It really is nothing more than a chat, how we met, how we kept in touch, had I met the family etc. She did her long dramatic pause, smiled, told me our application was approved!

Now I'm off to the pub to celebrate! Oh I called my fiancée once I'd got my phone back, which it turns out you are now allowed to take in the embassy (this may change again, but goulds is no more than a thirty second walk away so its worth asking before going and storing it.)

It's really not a terrible experience, so long as have your documents in order and you have nothing to hide then it should't the terrible experience most of us expect.

Time to start getting my tax return done and my flights booked! Well after the pub.
