Looks like it's my turn. My appointment was for 9am on April 10th. I decided to fly down from Manchester Airport the night before. Easier for me to do that as I currently work at the airport.

I stayed in a travellodge up near Marylebone Station. Suited my purposes just fine. It was a 20 minute walk down to the Embassy in the morning. I didn't sleep too great so was up bright and early. I completely ignored my appointment time as suggested by countless others on here. I arrived at Goulds pharmacy at 7:20am and dropped off my bag. Probably didn't need to but decided it best as I had medication in my bag which may have been a security issue (needles).

There was already a queue forming of about 30 or so people and a nice girl ticked me off the list as she walked by asking for immigrant visa people. I joined the second queue and took off my belt and put my coins and wallet into the clear bag provided. Managed to drop my photos and I134 form onto the floor.

For the record: I am married to an American- we met and married in London, before he was sent back to the US for work. As he was resident in the UK at the time we applied, our process was all conducted through London.

We applied with an i-130 in early December, and did everything as soon as possible (ie. I took the soonest possible medical appt once we received our case number and could go ahead). Our interview date was confirmed for March 25 about 4 weeks ahead of time.

I was very nervous about the interview (for no reason other than I worry about things!), so we decided to stay at a hotel close to the embassy the night before. If you can afford it, I would very much recommend that option! We got up at 6.30, and arrived outside the embassy just after 7am. We were second in line. (To the girl with bright red hair who was in front of us- we lost you at some point, I hope all went well for you!!)

Around 7.15, the embassy started to move, and... read complete review

I won't go into great depth as I'll just be repeating the many reviews already submitted.

My appointment was for 8am, I arrived at the embassy just after 7. They were setting up the desks out front and there was already a small queue forming. I decided to grab a coffee from the starbucks just up the street and drop my phone into goulds for storage on my way back.

As everyone has said theres two lines, the one on the right is for non US citizens, if you have your passport, letter and ds-160 out they'll check them when you get to the desk and ask you to join the queue for security. (This runs next to the first queue, its the one closest the barriers so when you first arrive make sure you get in the one on the left). Flew through security in a few minutes, into the building where you go to the desk in front of you, wait for the woman to finish painting her nails, hand over your documents and theyll put some stickers on your letter with your number on.

I got off the bus from Oxford at marble arch. I was about an hour early because my appointment was at 0830 and I didn't want to come unstuck because of London morning traffic. I considered turning up two hours late as symbolic punishment for America's two year dalliance in World War Two, but thought better of it.

It's about an 8 minute walk from there to the embassy so I went to check it out. The building's a bit of an eye-sore but the area is lovely with a monument to the American pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain (see they're not ALL bad) and a marvellous statue of Roosevelt. The embassy bristles with armed policeman; used to the somber, menacing faces of such guards I was pleasantly surprised when one of them smiled at me and wished me good morning.

It was now 7AM and I was conscious that my letter said I couldn't be admitted for an hour. So I walked just a hundred metres or so down the street to a Starbucks to nervously wait it out.
