Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My Embassy experience was fairly uneventful really. My interview time was 9am, I arrived at the Embassy just after 8am and the queue was already pretty long. I joined the back of the queue to then be told that I needed to check in at the blue desk first (I knew this already but my mind was totally fuzzy with nerves). So I headed to the blue desk, handed over my passport and DS-260, and the girls at the desk had a little conversation about Immigrant visas and that they had to be sent straight through as they were told off for sending them to the back of the queue, so, that's what happened, I didn't have to join the queue, they let me straight into the queue for security which was only 3 people long. Security was fairly uneventful, it's just like going through airport security, I only had my folder, my handbag and my mobile phone with me. Next I headed into the Embassy, where I again handed over my passport, interview letter and DS-260, they gave me a number and handed everything ba... read complete review

I took the coach to London on the morning of my interview to arrive in Victoria about 7.15am; my interview time was 9:00am. I used the CityMapper app on my phone (highly recommended) to find my way to North Audley Street, where Gould's is located.

Walking from Victoria station(s), you'll likely pass the embassy itself, which is a large, unassuming building with a giant golden eagle atop it. I started to notice a handful of people gathering outside at this point.

I checked in my bag into Gould's (I was carrying my travel pillow, phone, charger, soft drinks and snacks along with my documents. I expected security to be like the airport so didn't want to risk losing anything). It cost £3. They give you a little locker-room/raffle ticket and take your phone number. So you can take your phone into the embassy now - but just make sure it's switched off at the window.

Made my way up to the embassy, greeters will ask you to join the queue on the le... read complete review

My husband arrived at the Embassy at 7am. He stood in line and entered just before 8am. He got his number, sat down and waited for about 15 minutes before his number was called. He went up to the first counter and did the finger prints. Very uneventful.
Then he sat and waited for about 45 minutes before getting called again for the interview. He raised his right hand and the man asked my husband a few questions. The only confusing question was my husband being asked why we didn't file a K-1 (because we got married in August), and why didn't my husband just adjust status after we married (he replied that we were under the impression doing so was illegal and did not want to jeopardize the process).
1. Where does your wife work?
2. When did you and your wife begin your relationship?
3. What city will you be living in?
4. Why are you moving to the US instead of your wife coming here?

The CO then made a comment about the Congressional inqui... read complete review

Very easy experience. I wasn't asked for copies of my documents and I was given my photo back after they had scanned it. At the interview the officer didn't even ask me my fiancées name! He just asked how we met, how I came to be at the wedding where we met, how many times we had seen each other and when I had decided to propose. At the end of the last answer he said ok your approved and it was as easy as that!

- I got at the embassy at 6.50am for my interview at 8.00am. I was the 12th person in line.
- I entered the embassy at 8.00am and had the first interview at 8.10am. I was requested my birth certificate, police record and affidavit of support. I had a co-sponsor for which I needed supporting documents such as pay stubs and letter of employment.
- I had my next interview 15 min later, where I got questions such as: how did you meet, where does your fiancee lived, when I mentioned where he lived my interviewer said he's going there this weekend and if I could recommend him what to see there, what do I do in London
- Then I was informed that visa is approved and that I will have my passport back by the end of next week

Everybody at the embassy were very pleasant to talk to, friendly and helpful so I very much enjoyed the overall experience and very much appreciated the timely manner in which we were dealt with.

Also would like to mentio... read complete review
