I arrived at 7:30 for my interview at 8 am. Joined the first line at the end of which I presented my passport and DS160 confirmation/payment confirmation. The lady ticked my name on the list and sent me to the other line to the security portal. Dropped my things in a box and I was inside by 7:50. The numbers started being called on the big screen at about 8:10 and mine was I-904 (seemed to start at I-900) so I was called quite quickly. The lady at the booth wasn’t extremely nice I must say and a bit abrupt: she asked for my birth certificate, my police certificate (to my surprise she said she didn’t need the translation of my Belgian police certificate in French – just the original?!) and then she asked for my courier confirmation. I wasn’t sure what she meant as I didn’t book the courier and I am just going to pick up my visa but I understood she meant the confirmation of payment of the visa and gave it to her. She then said it was “really cheap” (I guess because the cou... read complete review

Generally, not a bad experience. just the long lines were a problem and which line should I join. All I would say, is make sure you have all the relevant documents at hand and ensure you follow all instructions and you will be fine for the next stage. The Interviews....don't worry they are not that bad, just make sure that you keep your eye on the board for when your number is called. Its a strange experience but, just remember why you are doing it, cos you want to be with the one you love.

My wife and I decided to stay in a hotel in London that wasn't too far from the embassy, the night before our interview, as otherwise we'd have had to travel from the Midlands early in the AM, leaving us both tired and uncomfortable during my interview. Unless you live reasonably close by, I'd definitely recommend doing this.
My interview was at 8AM - we left the hotel just before 6AM, and arrived outside the embassy a little before 7. We found out at that point that Goulds pharmacy doesn't open until 7:30, so had a cold drink at the cafe next door.
At 7:30 we dropped our luggage off at Goulds and walked across to the embassy, where a long queue had already formed. After waiting in the first queue we presented my passport, DS-260 results page and interview letter to the staff at the blue table - luckily my wife's name was on the list they'd been given, I've heard that this isn't always the case. We then waited in the second queue as I held my entire life i... read complete review

Approved, finally! Had my interview at the U.S. Embassy on Tuesday 2nd August, and here's how it went. Hopefully there will be some information here, for anyone else going through the same process.
My appointment letter had a time of 9am, and stated I wouldn't be allowed in until within 30 minutes of that time. Turned up at 8.30 to find two queues outside the embassy. There is no shelter outside the building, so be sure to check the weather forecast before you turn up. Thankfully, the sun was shining for me. There was a large stack of umbrellas inside the gate, I guess for the days when it doesn't.
The first queue was quite short, and all that was checked here was that I had my DS-160 confirmation, appointment letter, and passport. At the desk, my appointment letter was signed, and I was sent to join the main queue. This queue led up to the security booth, through which was the entrance to the embassy grounds. Laptops and large bags are not permitted in to the embassy, bu... read complete review

My appointment letter said 8am, but I tried to get there earlier. I stayed with a friend the night before, and got up at 6am to get the bus to Marble Arch.
I arrived at around 7.30, and there were already three lines outside of about 50 people in total. I checked my bag in at Gould's Pharmacy (£3 - a bargain) and joined the line. They had one line for appointments from 8.30 and later, one for 8am, and a line for people who had been checked in. All the lines were moving quickly. I waited outside for maybe 10 minutes, maximum.
I was given a small, clear plastic bag for my mobile phone (and I should have put my iPod in there too), and going through the security check was simpler than airport security - but I did have to get my iPod out of my bag and show it to them, but it wasn't a problem.
I didn't keep track of the time, so I'm guessing a lot about how long things took.
My ticket number was I906, so I didn't have too long to w... read complete review
