Review Topic: K1 Visa

Arrival time: 07:35
Got ticket number: 07:54
Called to present documents: c 08:50
Called for interview: c 09:00
Left building: 09:12

I stayed with friends overnight in London. My appointment time was 09:00, but had read on VJ that K1 applicants could turn up before time, so I arrived at about 07:30.

Two longish lines had formed already, with staff walking up and down the lines to answer questions. The lines were arranged by interview time. Initially I was told to stand in the 9 a.m. line, even though I told the staff member that I was applying for a K1 visa. A couple of minutes later I checked with another staff member who told me that K1 applicants didn't have to queue, and ushered me to the outside desk. Lesson: K1 applicants don't have to join the normal lines, but not all staff seem to know this - keep trying until you find someone who does!

At the outside desk I presented my interview letter and passport, and... read complete review

My fiancé and I had an 8am appointment and arrived at the embassy at 7:30am. There were already about 15 people queuing so we joined the line, Where a worker told us to ensure we had our interview letter and passports to hand. We came to a little desk where they check your documents, Ensure the correct name is on their list and assign you with a number, Which was stuck onto the letter.
We then entered a little security room, Where we were asked to place all belongings into a tray to be scanned, Just like at an airport. Then we actually enter the Embassy! We came to a reception area where the lovely ladies checked our letter once more and then entered the main room.
It was a huge square room, With seating on the left and right, Almost like school assembly! At the front of the room, There is a huge screen where you wait for your number to show. On the right are booths, For checking documentation and a passage way where more booths are for interviews.... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

I walked out of Bond Street at 6:50am and walked to the consulate. After reading reviews I wanted to get there nice and early, even if it was bitterly cold. As I approached the consulate, I was surprised to see I wasn't the first arrival. I asked a security guard that I was there for my K-1 visa interview and he told me to form a que with the 5 other people. As the minutes rolled by (very slowly) the que began to get bigger. By the time 7:20/7:30 the que was at least 100 strong. I would definitely suggest getting there at 7:00. At 7:35 staff members of the consulate came out and starting asking for people to get, 1. Interview letter. 2. DS-160 and 3. Passport ready for them to check the details and tick me on their list. I then was ushered towards security (which is exactly like airport security) they except tablets, phones but NOT LAPTOPS! Luckily I didn't bring one but the guy behind me did - from what I heard he had to leave and find somewhere to put it and rejoin the que. After tha... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

I got to Grosvenor Square around 7am; I was staying in a hotel in Victoria so I took the tube from Victoria to Oxford St, and was lazy so I changed to Central Line to Bond St. I used to attend culinary school in this area of London so I knew where I was heading from here.

By the time I reached the embassy, there were already about 25 people in a queue. I'd had a terrible night's sleep so I was yawning for most of the wait. Eventually got split into the line for 9am appointment times (mine) and 8am. They let the 8am's through first and then the 9am's after. I think it was around 7:50 by the time I was seated in the waiting area. My ticket was 11th in line for the K visas I believe - I'm not 100% sure on this, but I911 was the ticket number. Most people are there for work-based visas I think.

After a 40-45 min wait, I went up to window 13. A nice English guy asked for my docs. I had them all prepped and ready. He gave me back my X-rays and also asked when m... read complete review
