It seems most people stay in London the night before. In my case it was not possible. I woke at 2:30am as I could not sleep. I had prepped all my documentation in advance so I spent some time speaking with my fiance in skype. I left my Hertfordshire flat at 4:50am headed to ASDA to get some cash then took at taxie to the train station. The train ride and the tube ride took all of 35 minute or so. I stopped to get Coffee and walked the rest of the way. All in all the commute from went quickly. I was the first to arrive at the embassy and my appointment was set for 8:30am. I knew I would be very early but I felt better being there and then relaxing on a bench across the park. I asked my fiance to do a internet search to find a Coffee shop and I she found 2 within a couple of minutes walk on north Audley Drive. They were open so I spent time there.
The process went smoothly. As reported by others everyone was very polite and friendly. British Security joked some and the Am... read complete review

Reading reviews & as everyone says - I took the trip up to London the night before my interview and stayed at the Royal Eagle hotel by Paddington. I got up at about 6am, showered/ ate (though its near impossible as you're on edge) and had a quick (15-20 min) walk through Hyde park to get to the embassy.
I arrived at the Embassy at about a quarter to 7 and the queues had already started to form! At 7am The staff outside started splitting people into 3 distinctive lines, and following advice asked a couple of staff members if I was in the right line - I was so I stayed put. As it turned out ours was the only line that moved during my time outside the embassy. You walk up to a lady sitting on a table who checks your appointment letter and passport before sending you to line up outside the security checkpoint where they again check your details.
- The staff the whole time were very friendly and even cracked a few jokes! -
At security they x-ray... read complete review

My K-1 Visa Appointment was scheduled for 25th of March 2015 at 9:00am.
I turned up at the US Embassy in London at around 8:15am after grabbing a cup of tea at the nearby starbucks before hand. There was a small white visa services tent set up outside the embassy and a couple of lines of people waiting to get in (one much longer than the other). The lines were split into appointment times.
It's worth noting that people with every type of visa appointment will be in these lines and that you should make sure to let the staff know that you are there for a K-1 (immigrant) interview. They might make sure you get in a bit earlier because of that.
The security procedures were pretty much what you would expect at an airport. I showed a guard my passport, DS-160 printout and appointment letter. Bags were given out in the line to put any phones and things from your pockets into. I put this into a tray and walked through the scanner. I then collected t... read complete review
