So, i had a 9am appointment, I'm not a worrier by nature so didn't bother getting there at 6am or anything, just rocked up at 8.15am. There was a line, not too long really, and a lady walking up the line checking letters, i went straight to her (she was at the top of the line anyway) and said I had an immigration interview and showed her my letter, she told me to go see her colleague at the desk who scribbled on my form and i was let straight into security.

So to reiterate what a couple of others have said, if you have immigration interview (i.e. K1) you don't have to queue, as there are people queueing for all kinds of visas. So go straight to the person checking the letters or go to the desk.

Once inside I received my number and sat down to wait, only waited about 30 mins and did the first window slot of giving over documents. The lady said my background to my photo was off white but she accepted it anyway. Then I returned to a seat and waited for the interview. I would say its hard to read etc while you're waiting as the screen is pinging up numbers constantly, causing 100 or so people to be looking up at the same time every minute!

I waited about an hour, then was called. Saw a young lady who wasn't really that friendly (from what I 'd read i expected a more friendly person) but she was ok, just a bit poker face and serious. The usual few questions about where we met etc, then she checked the affadavit of support and I presume because my fiancees salary is just under the 125% of poverty line she asked me if i had any savings. I was a little surprised as we were over the 100%, but luckily i had printed off details of some savings the day before (must have been a premonition!) and when she asked if I had any evidence of that I was able to give her the details. PHEW!

She then asked about what work I intended to do, and when i said I did care and social work I swear I saw her soften, just momentarily, and then a smile formed ever so slightly at the edges of her mouth and she said I was APPROVED! I took in the moment, smiled, said thanks very much then buggered off to the park and sat on a bench to message my love. JOB DONE!

I literally just checked my status on CEAC and it already says Issued! Its been easter holidays so its only been 2 working days. Good news indeed, as I already booked my flight!
