I had my interview yesterday at the London Embassy, appointment time of 8am. My experience was very similar to most of the people on here but putting it all down just in case it helps to calm those who are yet to go through it!

We arrived at about 7.15 (we'd stayed nearby in a hotel I booked using Hotwire, worried that if I tried to get there from home on the train that I'd run into weather issues or something). By that time there was a queue of about 25 people so we joined the back of it. About 10 minutes later they split us into three queues, one for non-immigrant visas with appointment time of 8am, one for all immigrant visas (we were in the first 10 of this queue) and another for non-immigrant visas with later appointment times.

At 7.30am, they started checking appointment letters and passports and moving us into another queue to go through security to start admitting people. I had a friend with me (moral support) and was told that she couldn't come i... read complete review

My appointment was for 8am yesterday, got there around 7.30am, the usual long queues, which were snaking all over the place, difficult to work out which one to join, but as I've been looking at other previous posts on this was proactive and asked a member of staff where to queue, was directed to a smaller queue for immigration. ( the longer queues were for tourist visas and yes those in that queue got upset as K1 applicants were moved forward) lol
After the the security checks ( X-ray and search arch) went inside to the reception desk on the right hand side of the building as you look at it. There they put on a label onto your interview letter and mine was a 'I' letter and a number. When you go into a large waiting room with a large screen at the end, which pinged now and again telling certain numbers to go to certain windows. You have to monitor this screen as you don't want to miss your number being called and missing it. ( the waiting room filled as the morning went on and th... read complete review

We stayed at Marble Arch Inn, "cheapest expensive" hotel that we could find that is close to the U.S Embassy. The hotel was about a 15 minutes walk to the Embassy.

We got up around 5 am and we left out by 6:15. Security told us that they will be setting up tables so we just sat outside the Embassy to wait. Around 6:45 they started to set things up and at 7:30 the line began. We were the first in line and we showed them our paperwork and they verified everything and told us to wait for security to check again. We were then turned away because my fiance had a laptop luggage tote with wheels(it was not allowed because it has wheels) the crazy part is the woman that checked our documents first told us that his bag was ok to enter but she said that it depends on what the person. They allowed him to take the same bag in for his tourist visa appointment. They instructed us to go to the pharmacy down the street (2 minutes walk) to lock our things up. It cost us about £5. We ... read complete review

Interview was today October 26th. I arrived at 645 and was the second person there. Eventually we lined up and they started letting people into security. There were 2 people in front of me and somehow I was actually first person into the building and to get a ticket.. Lucky me. Turns out I was sitting near David Gandy (male model for M&S) but I don't think anyone else recognised him haha.

I was called about 10 people in and went to my first interview. Guy was really nice. Asked for bunch of stuff including police, birth certificate, Ds160, passport and affidavit. Asked when I wanted to fly, I said next week and he signed it off and told me to go back and wait. Waited another 20-25 min and then called up a second time. Lovely lady who asked me a few basic questions such as "when and how did you meet" "What does your fiance do for a living" "Which college are they at" e.t.c - informed me my visa was approved and off I went a happy man. All in all I was in there for about a... read complete review
