Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Our interviews were for 9am on Thursday 12th November. I had an appointment for myself and my two children. I had used the contact form for the Embassy to request permission to take my youngest child, too, who is a US Citizen by birthright so does not need a visa, but I had no other childcare for her. They emailed back within 24 hours saying that was fine and I printed the email in case I had any problems but everyone there was great!
As the other reviews have said, it's really nothing to worry about. I was only asked for the paperwork listed on my P4 letter, and one photocopy of my daughter's birth certificate that was missing from what NVC had sent over to them for some reason.
We arrived at 8:45am (I didn't arrive too early because of having 3 kids to keep occupied outside in the rain) and were sent straight to the front of the queue to be marked off the list. Once inside, we waited about 45 minutes and were called to the first window where the lady had all the original documents from me, plus our passports and she gave me my chest x-ray CD and told me to carry it with me when I travel. This part probably took about 20 minutes because the lady was going through all 3 cases and putting our photos in, arranging the files, etc. With just one case it'd be much quicker. She also scanned my fingerprints.
Then we waited about another 45 minutes and we were called back up to another lady who asked me and my daughter to take the oath that our applications were truthful. Children don't have to but my daughter is 12 and because she could understand, the lady was keen to include her. I had my fingerprints scanned again a few times to 'log in' for each of our 3 cases. So she asked how we met, we talked about our kids' names and had a little chit chat. She asked about my previous name changes (probably because they were not due to marriage so I often get confusion about it) and then said she had reviewed everything and was very pleased to say our visas were approved! We were outside and calling my husband by 11am!
Having checked ceac, two of our 3 cases are currently in AP and the other still says ready for interview but I assume that is fairly standard. All the staff we had contact with were very friendly, professional and efficient and made a stressful morning much easier.
