This Embassy is one of the best to file and get approval from. If all of your papers are in order, its a 10 minute breeze thru that part, another 10 minutes of fingerprints and then final chat with Embassy Official at a window like a bank. Contrary to what you have heard, ther are NO interview rooms with cameras and stern dictating Embassy officials. The final interview is standing up at the window. They MAY ask you to verify a few questions regarding facts that you already submitted in earlier paperwork, but we got none. Sveta was alone, and she was ONLY asked if she was aware of my previous misdemeanor record with the court in 1989-90. She said YES, I know, and they said they HAD to tell her this. My opinion is they ONLY ask questions if there is some questions that the applicant is NOT the same person who filled out the paperwork, the age is crazy, like a 18 year old and a 79 year old man, or they supect foul play. I have never heard of this, espcecially at Kiev Embassy, so all in a... read complete review

Just a quick note that my husbands interview went well!

Our process started on DCFing on January 27th. I was 'approved' by the FBI on February 2, also the day for my husbands medical. We had already gotten his Police Certificate in January so waiting for that was not an issue. I contacted the call center on February 3 and asked for the next available date, including the next day if possible! We were given February 9, the following Monday.

We arrived in the rain and the guard let us stand under cover until closer to 9:30 (our time). We passed through the documents quickly and took a seat waiting to be called. The two interviews in front of us were denied BUT they called my husband's name next and he went back by himself. No questions asked! We have been married about 1 1/2 years, and had all our paperwork organized. We payed the FedEx fee and received his passport and mysterious brown envelope on Wednesday, Feb.11! We plan to fly into Cinncinatti ... read complete review

I went with my fiance to the interview in Kiev on January 22 and I am very happy that I did because we had NO PROBLEMS and NO QUESTIONS asked.
Ok let me start from the begining..... Frist we came in at 9 am (our interview is at 9:30) and there was a big line a head of us but I came up to the guy in black coat saying "American Embassy" and told him that I'm an US Citizen and we have an inteview set up at 9:30am and he just let us in right away. He said that my fiance can't take any bags of phone or anything with him except papers, but he told me that I can take anything with me because I'm a US Citizen. We went in and went thru the security check and went to that glass window where they asked us all the papers. They guy behind the window was very nice to us, I'm sure it was becuase I was there and we have all of our papers complete and neat, and ready for him when he asked me for them. then we had a seat and waited to be called. Lady called my fiance Vitalik to do his fingerpri... read complete review

Marina had her interview today. She arrived at 9:15AM and there was a couple of lines for different times. A guard came out and asked who had a Fiancee or Immigrant visa and then moved them to the front of the line. She was let inside and 10 minutes later gave all the paper work to the lady behind the glass. There was only one officer doing interviews and 3 hours passed before they called a second officer. There was a girl who got denied because she was in the US illegally before, so she got a 10 year ban. Also another lady got denied because she did her medical in her city and not in Kiev. And a man got denied because there was something with his passport. Marina's interview was about 5 minutes, but they did ask many questions. They asked when did I come to see her and when did I leave, that we decided to get married only after a week together, where I was born, when did a leave, where to I work, then he looked at our records, asked what phone number I called, my email address, my sky... read complete review

Over all, a pretty good experience. We showed up early, and found it not necessary. At the appointed time, the K visa crowd (all 4 of us) were directed to join the immigratant visa queue inside. The wait inside was about 2.5 hours, and we actually met up with some one else from VJ doing her interview that day. The consular officer had zero questions for Vika, and only one comment for me - apparently I have some odd visa stamps in my passport. Approval in 2 minutes - then off to FedEx. Twelve days and we fly back!
