My husband was one of the first people to arrive to the embassy but was the last person interviewed so your arrival time will not affect your place in line. He waited for a few hours in a FREEEEZING COLD room... he cannot stop talking about how cold that room was!! The interviewing officer was a woman, he said she was very cold as well... she asked when we got married, about our joint sponsor (my dad), and about my pregnancy. She then asked for our red book marriage certificate. If you were married in Turkey make sure you have this with you! I had it here in the US with me and was nervous about sending it in the mail and figured we would be okay because he could get a certified copy there in Turkey. She told him to send the red book with his passport and handed him a green refusal sheet. So we just need to send those things together and should have his visa soon... just kicking myself for not sending it to begin with!! It's now in transit to Turkey and I guess it will be a couple more ... read complete review

They took his requested documents, photos, medical papers, and any additional evidence we wanted to submit.
A big thing to note: my fiance had already submitted original police report and birth papers just 1 month earlier. Yet they requested it again at the window. Thankfully he had new copies from just 2 days earlier. Best to get those just in case. The lady made him speak in English during his interview, even though he requested to get the questions in Turkish and answer in English. He did great
They asked him the usual questions in addition to asking him about my past divorce. Then the lady smiled and said welcome to America. You are approved!!!

My fiance arrived to the Embassy around 8am. He said he checked in and the officer took his documents from him. He then went to a waiting lounge where he sat for 4 hours until his number was called. He says the interviewers are located in the back of the lounge behind glass windows. There are about 7 counters where they all sit. The rows of chairs where the applicants sit have their backs to these counters. However, when called, its easy for the people closest to the windows to hear everything that is being said--so, no real privacy there.

My fiance said that many people were rejected rudely because their English was poor and the officer couldn\'t communicate (they would ask \"how can you have a relationship and you can\'t communicate with each other?\"). So, its a huge advantage to speak good English. He even witnessed an elderly woman get turned away (could have been someone\'s grandmother--so rude).

Anyway, he was one of the last people called t... read complete review

I'm writing this review to help other people. Going through this process, this site was invalauble and helped me tremendously. Alot of people on here are helpful, but alot of people also have very bad information. So the examples the site provides and insight is extremely helpful.

Oyku went to the embassy around 8. She was in a big line that was split into 2. The immigration line then was directed by a security guard who was very rude into the embassy. A woman then in the compound took her paperwork (police report, birth certificate, some personal relationship proof, passport, passport photos, medical report, and the receipt for the interview). Then she was given a number and waited in a room. The room was pretty cold and she waited for over 4 hours! So bring a book, and relax you'll be there a bit. Then she was called for her interview. The guy interviewing her was nice and polite. He asked her a few questions. Where did you meet, why do you love him, what d... read complete review
