The whole process was tense.

I came in at around 7:30 and waited quite a bit. I was asked a few standard questions, and also to explain the criminal record. Then more waiting and the consular officer gave me a 221(g) form with instruction to provide a I-864A and the comment "You committed a crime in the United States so we need to see if you are eligible for the visa".

2 weeks after submitting the I864A I got called again, and this time it's two friendly consular officers asking me about how I've lived in Taiwan since getting deported before. After the interview they said they needed time to think about it. 3 days later I was informed the visa got approved and was asked to send in my passport. Got the passport/packet in the mail in about 3 days.

Process was pretty easy. My fiance arrived early, was told to wait till the appointment time. They reviewed the documents, didn't even take my W-2's or even look at the updated proof of ongoing relationship. The interviewer had her swear on everything and didn't even ask her a single question, just told her approved!!!

Interview was set at 7:45am though the consulate office won't open until 8am (weird). My wife and I waited outside until 8am to enter and went to the 2nd floor (immigration visa section), submitted all documents at the first window. Waited about 20 minutes before "pre-interview & doc check" window with a nice lady with short hair and glasses - very few questions and a smile plus fingerprint scan later we were sent to the 3rd floor (US Citizen services) to pay, and it was a mad house - bunch of people trying to get some kind of service and we waited patiently to pay for the IV fee. After payment we went back down to 2nd floor and waited and listened to other people being interviewed/grilled and watched cartoon on the TV (kids came in earlier so they switched from CNN to Cartoon Network).

When it was our turn to interview it was already past 9:30am, the interview officer was very nice, had a neat set of silver cuff links he said he got from Mexico (said his wife was a Mexi... read complete review

Hi guys! I'm here to share my interview experience! First of all I was so lucky, because of yesterday's typhoon the embassy closed for one day, that was really scared, if my interview was yesterday than i have to reschedule it and who know how long it will be!

I arrived embassy at 8:50, after long wait, 10:30 the lady call me, she said my documents looks good she only ask for my birth certificate then start asking questions: 1)how you meet? 2)where you husband work? 3)how long you will stay? 4) how many time you been to us? 5)last time contact? blabla...It was easy and relax chat, and then finger print then sit waiting, finally at 11:15 the officer call me, she first ask are you telling the truth...then she ask: where is your husband? I answered, then she ask me do the finger print again, than she said: YOUR VISA IS APPROVED. I said: excuse me? then she say it again lol oh my it was easy and awesome! YES! My visa was approved!

Visa approved!

My interview date was at 4/17/2014 7:45am, I arrived the consulate at 7:30 and got in on time. However, it took 45 mins to submit my documents, and after I submitted my documents, I waited another 45 mins to get to the interview window. However, the officer didn't ask me a lot of questions..I am guessing the lady at the documents submitting window has done the job for him. Anyway, besides the waiting, the overall process was nice. I got my visa at 4/22/2014.
