The petitioner was present with the beneficiary.
The interviewer spoke Korean asked us about
- When we met
- How long did you meet before tying the knot
- Where does the husband live?
- Why was the beneficiary in foreign country for more than a year? What was her job there?
- What does the husband do for living?
- When was the last time the beneficiary visited the states?
- Since the petitioner was living in Korea, interviewer asked if the petitioner will follow suit when the beneficiary leaves
Above questions were asked in a natural dialog. We exteremely thankful that the interviewer was mindful of our nervousness and even used Korean honorifics to make us feel at ease.
As a side note, we overheard a lady, a K1 beneficiary also being interviewed. She also was given a choice to do the interview in Korean or English. The lady chose Korean.
All in all, they seem to run a tight ... read complete review

Arrived by 7:30am and there were about 5-6 people waiting.
Once you go inside, they take your phone and smartwatch.
2nd Floor, they check reservation confirmation and then you go to the 3rd floor to wait.
They call your name and check your documents. Wait. Second time you're called, you do the interview. Very kind caucasian lady.
Questions: How did you meet? Wedding plans? How many times have you been to the states and for how long?
Visa is approved. Visa and passport will be mailed and should arrive in a week.
Finished a little past 9am.

We are a same-sex couple so we were a little nervous about facing discrimination but this was not the case. My fiance (Korean) said the staff were very kind and helpful. The consular officer began the interview in Korean but switched to English as my fiance was answering in English. Questions asked included questions about my name, the nature of our relationship with each other (engaged), what I, the American, was doing in Korea when I lived there, and how long I had been in my current job here in the US.
After my fiance answered those all correctly, the officer let him know he had all the documentation he needed and so the visa was approved. He explained to my fiance that he needs to enter the US and marry me within 90 days and warned him not to get married outside of the US and then attempt to use the visa as it would become invalid.
Great experience overall dealing with the US embassy in Seoul. No inappropriate, strange, or overly difficult questions.
