I had a pleasant experience at the consulate today (19 April 2016)

My interview was scheduled for 1pm. I arrived in Sandton nice and early, grabbed something small to eat and then headed to the consulate around 12, there was one person ahead of me. Security outside said that we will go in at 1pm, I thought that was a bit strange as my interview was scheduled for 1pm, thinking I would have to be there prior to get through security etc. I waited for an hour, there are benches in the shade, however the steadily grew so it is recommended to arrive earlier but not too earlier as some people were being chased away for arriving too early for interviews later in the day. I went through security, had to leave my phone in a locker, and any flash drives etc.. Once I got in I got a ticket number and had to sit and wait. I was second in line, I waited max 5 minutes before being called to a window. A very friendly South African lady assisted me. She took all my required documents and... read complete review

I was scheduled to come at 1pm & when I arrived I found that there was a group of K1 visa applicants all scheduled at the same time. Basically a line forms outside then you go in and get a number and just wait for your number to be called.

The facility was well staffed and run. I was called to 3 different windows. First to finger print etc, then the second window to confirm some details and then a third time to the actual interview.

The entire process probably only took an hour and a half or so.

My fiancé sent in the petition in January 2015, and on 8 March 2016 I finally had my interview. We arrived at 12, saw that there was nobody there, went into Sandton City for about 30 minutes and when we got back to the embassy there was about 12 people lined up. (They turned out the be groups, so I ended up being fifth in line). I also read somewhere that they don't allow queueing before 12:30, so in that case, just hang around and then run up to the benches when it's time haha.

My sister accompanied me, and I asked if she will be allowed inside and they said yes. We got into the security room and there they had a bit of an issue with her being there, but let her through. Once inside, I received a number and was told to sit and wait. After about 15 minutes a lady came up to us and told my sister that she needed to leave. I thought that was really weird and unnecessary, but oh well.

Finally my number was called and I was asked to hand in my police clearan... read complete review

My kids, my mom and I arrived at the embassy early but the security informed us that we could not wait outside so we should come back 15mins before our interview time. We walked over the street and spent some time in Sandton Mall. At 12:45 we went back to the embassy where they checked our names off a list and waited to be called.

Not long after, we went inside and through security. We had left all our electronics in the car so there was no need to store anything. We then went through to a second building where our passports were checked and then asked to wait. There were three other families all with kids which eased my nerves a little.

After maybe 15mins I was called to a window where they took all my forms, documents, proof, passports etc. I then had to pay the fee and have my fingerprints taken.

After about an hour we were called to another window for our interview. The interviewer was very friendly and after greeting us I asked if the ... read complete review

My experience with my embassy was very good.
I arrived at 11:30am for my 1pm appointment. I was the first one there, waited until about 12:30 when some people started join me, still standing outside.
Just before 1pm, they started calling out our names to make sure that we were all there.
There were some American citizens who came for other services, they went in first.

Thereafter I went through security, left all my electronic devices with them and went in with my bag and file. I was called to the first window where all my originals were taken, including photographs.
After that, I went the next window for finger prints and other verifications, that all took about an hour.
At 2:05 pm, I was called to the interview window, very nice America lady only asked me 3 questions :
- When is your husband's birthday?
- Where did you meet?
- When was the last time you saw him?

Then she said,... read complete review
