Interview took five minutes. Consular was very nice, asked a few questions such as, how we met, what her family thought of me, what I do for a living. The consular looked at a few pictures and a few screenshots from yahoo messenger and then simply said "your visa is approved, you should get it in the mail in a week or so".

 | Review Topic: General Review
Dec 7th, I arrived in Moscow and met my daughter. We then found our hotel. We then went to find the embassy. Later that day, we met with a friend who was having her interview on the same day.

December 8th, I arrived at about 7:20 at the embassy. I met my friend and there was already a line. We went through the security checks and went on our hall for the interview.

I could see the consular going through my papers. I told my friend that I was certain that she was looking at my documents. Soon after, my name was called. I was very nervous! The consular was very professional, nice and did what she could to calm me down. She asked the following questions:

 1. What is his name?
 2. Where and when did you meet?
 3. How did you communicate?
 4. How often do you talk?
 5. How many children does he have?
 6. How old are they?
 7. Who do they live with?
 8. How often does he see them?
 9. Discribe your ma... read complete review

I flew to Moscow from Yekaterinburg and stayed in a Hostel near the US Consulate for my (and my six year old daughter's) K-1 VISA interview. When I arrived I registered for the medical exam and paid $300 ($160 + $120 and $20 for the translation of my daughter's Vaccination Certificate). People in the medical office were friendly.

The next day was free (I wanted to have an extra day in case something was not in order with our medical exams) and we walked around Moscow. It's an expensive city; a ticket to Red Square is 350—700 rubles. In the evening I met a friend from Visa Journey. We found the US Consulate Building and made sure we knew where to go for the Interview.

The following day I met my friend near the Consulate Building. Women with children could go first in line, but I did not want to move forward without my friend. Then there was a screening that took a long time and was tedious. Then we sat, waiting for our interviews.<... read complete review

Ira told me her interview was 2, maybe 3 minutes long. The consul was friendly and he had greeted her with a smile. He asked her for her language preference for the interview...she asked for Russian. (I had tried to convince her to try it in English as she has progressed very quickly and I felt she would be more than capable to answer the questions they had...but she has been a little shy to use the English that she has been studying with me and on her own and insisted that she would rather have a longer interview in a language she understood perfectly than to possibly make mistakes in a language she felt uncomfortable with). The consul obliged her and asked her how we had met...how many times had I been married.....where did I work...and then he pulled out a copy of our Skype chats...we write to each other either when the other is sleeping or on subjects that are beyond our language skills (I speak a little Russian) and we use Google translate. He asked her how do we communicate? She ... read complete review
