What is admin process???? My wife's interview is coming up in less than a month, and i am wondering if she has to submit any fees during the interview process. There was no mention of it in the appointment letter.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Here is my visa experience. I had an interview on may 1st. I drove to the convention center with my uncle and arrived at convention center at 7:00 am. If you don’t know someone in Islamabad than it is better to know earlier the location of convention center.there were hundreds of people waiting for bus ticket. Try to come as early as possible. most of the people arrived at convention center before 6:00 am. i waited in line for half hour to get a bus ticket. it cost Rs. 40/-. on ticket counter, the ticket salesman asked my appointment letter and saw my passport. i got the bus ticket and went to another counter and submitted my bag. i took all my documents and proves from the bag. you are not allowed to take your bags and mobiles to the embassy. it was embarrassing. Well than I went to the bus stop and waited another half hour and then boarded a bus to the embassy. I arrived at the embassy around 8:00 am. A very strict security. A security officer checked the appointment letter and allowed me to the embassy. They checked us twice before enter into the main building. First CO took finger prints and told me wait for the call. I moved towards the waiting lounge. It was too loud. The children were crying and people were waiting with embarrassing faces for the call. I waited more than 4 hours for my first call and they only took my passport and asked about the language that I prefer the interview to be and than said wait for second call. Waited another hour and they called me again. On second call a lady counselor asked me three question
1. why are you going to USA?
2. have you ever visited to USA?
3 Were you ever involved with Terrorist organization?
And asked me about my medical report. I gave her sealed medical report and than she told me wait for another call. They mostly handled first for visit and non immigrant visa applicants.
I waited one more hour and on my final call. The visa officer asked me following question.
1. when did you marry?
2. where does she live in USA?
3. how did your wife get nationality?
4. when did she go to the USA?
Than he asked me to show pictures of wedding if you have . I gave him whole bunch of photos. He saw every pics and finally smiled and told me, you will get your passport in 7 days from American express Karachi. The American express will call you. He returned all my original civil and additional documents which I submitted to the NVC, except my original police certificate. That’s it.
Overall experience was good, except looooooong waiting. My advice is that whatever they ask you, always try to give them precise answer. Don’t try to tell them the whole story. On Saturday. may 3, American express called me at home and I got my passport with visa on Monday May 5, 2008. finally after two years long visa journey, I got my visa. Thanks God. God bless and help us.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Hello the Visa experience was this. I awoke on the morning of the at 3:00 am with my wife, left the hotel and arrived at the convention center very early. There were 3 cars already parked at the front of the gate to get in. When they opened we drove in waited in line for another half hour to get a bus ticket and then boarded a bus to the embassy. We went inside...lots of security. We were were called to two windows the first time they made sure all of our fees were paid and the second time they asked us if we had wedding photos I showed them a single wedding album(they did not look at the photos just made sure that we had them). We waited two more hours before they called us again for the interview. They asked her a few questions simple things such as where does he work? What does he do for a living? Where does he live? Are you related? What is his address in the U.S? My wife was somewhat prepared document wise.......but I had every single peace of paper that has ever been handed to me in my entire life with me. I had three separate thick folder containing everything all of them filed and labeled so I would know where everything was and one wedding photo album.
I had with me
1. A photo copy of the original 1-130 petition
2. A photo copy of the I-129 F petition
3.All of the Notices of Action that the USCIS sent me (originals)
4.All of the NVC notices (originals)
5.I-864 Form photocopy
6.A copy of my passport + Wife's passport
7.A photo copy of form DS-230
8.Police Certificates
9.Medical Exam
10.Phone Records (bills, phone cards)
11.Bank Statements (financial documents, Retirement plan statements, Monthly banks statements
12.IRS generated tax transcripts for the past three years
13. Marriage certificate (Urdu and English copy)
14.Original Wedding invitations
15.Original receipts for the wedding (marriage hall, catering, clothes, Photographer
16.Airlines ticket for when I went to Pakistan to get married
17.A updated letters from both my work and her work stating that we are still
employed with the same companies
18.United states postal money order recipet that I used to pay all of the USCIS and NVC fees
19.A wedding album containing wedding photos and also photos of our honeymoon and also photos of me with her family

They did not ask or look at any of my documents, folders, or wedding albums. After the brief interview the person at the window took her passport said congratulation and told her she would get her visa via American express in about a week.
