Well, this process has taken forever. When we first had our interview we were told that it would only take a few months. Well after waiting 7 months I returned to Nigeria and went to the embassy to find out what was going on. They werent replying to my emails so I did it in Person. That wasnt much help. But I didnt find out that they had just started to process our case again. So we waited and waited. Sept 05 one year from our last interview. My husband was returning to the Embassy on a weekly bases for them to have him go and get more documents. It was crazy I was fed up and Pregnant I contacted my Congressman and he looked into in. Finally In Decemeber 1 month before I was due. The embassy said that we would have to presue another Visa or due the K3 over again. Well the CR1 we had started in the being so we choose to finish it. They never gave us a direct reason why. That is why the Congressman is still fighting it. They are very harrsh at the embassy. Just make sure y... read complete review

The following is me and my now husband's interview experience at Lagos in June 2005. This information will be beneficial for genuine Nigeria-USC Couples who want to diminish the stress of going thru this difficult consulate.
General Tips for Dealing with Lagos
1. You must do your research! Every case is different so you must understand what could possibly be viewed as being a problem by the consulate. Carefully review others experiences so you know what to expect. Start this well ahead of your interview day so you can rectify any possible problems in time.
2. Related. You must be prepared and well organized. Keep all your paperwork in such a way that everything can easily be located and that you have all the necessary details and papers.
3. Have ample proof of your relationship. I can only speak about going through the K1 experience but the consulate namely looks for emails and pictures. Print out every single email correspond... read complete review

My Fiance had a nice experience at the Lagos COnsulate. At least they did not give him any problems.
His interview was scheduled for March 7th,2006 at 7.00am
He got there at 6.45am and as usual there was a long queue of people waiting for their interviews.
It got to his turn and they gave him a number IV 20 Whatever that means.
Finally after 2 hrs,He was called in by a nice looking lady(so he said).SHe told him to submit his Birth Certificate,Affidavit of support and other the necessary forms he needed to hand in and go wait in another 2hrs.He was called in for the main interview by a different lady.
She looked at him and said , so DrXXX, you are applying for an immigrant visa.WHat visa is that by the way.He responded by saying K1 Fiance visa. The lady said "Are you aware that you have to marry within 90days from the date you get into the States?"My fiance said he was aware of the fact. She therefore brought the DS156 and DS156-... read complete review

They were completely rude, coniving, idiots. Intentionally delayed us because I dared to voice my frustration about how crooked and unfair they are. Did I leave out incompetent!!!!!!! Had to have US Senator Jim Talent intervene on our behalf. He was AWESOME!!!! Visa granted on second appearance. MORONS!!!!!!

My interview was slated for 7:30 am, and I was supposed to have my core exam at school for 8 am on the same date. I went to the embassy to make enquiries about if i could change my interview date, the security guards would even let me talk to no one, i went home feeling bad and worried about what would happen to my education; i was indeed in a dilemma. i decided to go for the interview and be absent for my exams, which automatically would mean extra year for me at school.
I got to the embassy at exactly 7:20 am, waited on the queue till like 8:30 am, I was urshered in, later they took my documents and I was asked to sit down. I sat down until 5 pm before I was interviewed! God! i felt like cursing someone or even beating someone up for them making me miss my exams when they knew they would be this slow.
after the interview, I was asked to come back 8am anyday of the week with some info from the IRS. I did again on my own convenient date, and the same drama... read complete review
