Review Topic: K1 Visa

Wow....was I nervous for that???

I arrived at 1 and was the2nd for a K1/K3 visa....at 13:20 they opened the gate and let me in after the security. I was 2nd in line, so they wait there was only like 5 min....the friendly man behind the window asked for my appointment letter, postage, fingerprints, passport, I-134, proof of paying the 89 euro's...he gave me back the x-ray, went through the papers real quick, told me it looked fine to him, but that the consul had the last word.

After 45 min I was the first one called to window 6. There was a real nice American (the first was Dutch) man, asked me who petitioned for me, what job he has, how me met, what job I have. Since we met through church, he made some small talk about that. Then made me say: yes I do, to promises that all the info I gave them is correct to the best of my knowledge....fingerprint of left indexfinger again, went through some papers, asked if I had ever been to the State... read complete review

My interview was scheduled at 13:30. I arrived at the consulate just a little past 13:00 and there were some people waiting already. We were let in at around 13:15. First there was the security check and I had to hand in my cell phone. Then on to booth #5 where a friendly gentleman asked for my birthcertificate, passport size photos and postage fee. I was told to sit down in the waiting room and this could be a while as the consul was in a meeting. It took two hours . Then I heard my name being called and I had to go to booth #6. The interview itself took no more than 5 minutes. I was asked several questions like, how and when did I meet my fiance, what's his name, have I visited him in the US, has he visited me in the Netherlands, have I met his family, was either one of us previously married (when I said that my fiance was, they looked up his divorce papers), does either one of us have children (when I said that my fiance has a son, they asked for his age), what ki... read complete review

Everything went very well and actually more quick than I expected. A short line helped the waitingtime. Interview was very easy, just a few questions like, who applied for you and his/her name, what does he do for a living. I was in there for about 40 minutes but the actual interview didn't take much longer than 5 minutes.

They did not even ask for all the nice evidence I prepared haha.
Easy interview. There were definitly some questions that were there to check if we really had a relationship ("so your fiance is half ... and half ...?" -> birth certificate parents). The people were very nice and understanding.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiance was over from the States and came with me to the Consulate. It was FREEZING cold and we were there early, so we rang the bell but they refused to let us in before the appointed time... We were first in line which was nice. When we went in we had our bags checked, took the batteries out the cellphone, all the security checks etc., then had to go to window 5 inside. The guy took all the I-134-related paperwork plus my passport and the bank statement showing I'd paid the €80 (they need the original and told me I'd get it back). Then we were told to wait again, and they said it could take a really long time as there was only one CO on duty. We sat down but after about 5 minutes were already called again (it helps being first!) to window 6. The CO grinned at me and said hello, then pointed to my fiance and said, "so this is the handsome guy you want to marry?" and I said "YES!!" and my fiance gave me a big kiss! It was a great start to what was a very pleasant ... read complete review
