Review Topic: F-2A Visa

I spent almost 2 hours in Amsterdam Consulate, but mostly due to wait time. Officers were very friendly and helpful. First step to provide the document originals and then I waited another hour to get second window, where the interview were. I was asked only several questions about our relationship:
-where we met and how?
-my address in US
-my husband's occupation and mine as well
In general it was very calm and easy going experience.

Questions K1
* How did you meet each other?
* What does he do for a living?
* What are my plans to do in the States?
* Did we use a marriage broker (we did not btw lol)?
* Was I ever convicted?
* Did I ever overstay a visa?
* Where does your fiancé live?
* What is the address the greencard will be send to?
* If I ever been to the States on a J1?
* What are your plans for the wedding?

They also asked me for a copy of Fiance's passport, which wasn’t stated in the checklist. I did bring it as a back up.

I arrived at 9:00 for a 9:30 appointment, and was told by security to return in 15 minutes. At 9:15, I was let in and went through security. Just like at an airport, I had to take my shoes off.
I was told to sit and wait to be called to the first window, which took about 10 minutes.
When they called me up, they asked for my birth certificate, police certificate, marriage certificate, financial documents (I gave the affidavit of support and tax return my wife submitted to the NVC), DS-260 confirmation page, courier registration, my passport and 2 passport pictures. She looked over the papers, scanned some stuff and put them in a folder. When she was done with my paperwork, she took my fingerprints. After this, she then told me to take a seat and wait for my name to be called.

About 45-50 minutes later, I was called up to the second window where I had to take an oath stating that all I submitted and everything I will answer is the truth.
After which, t... read complete review

The consulate is very easy to reach in Amsterdam by car. There is ample parking space (paid) and close to major tourist attractions. After entering you'll go through security. The guards are very relaxed and are really kind. I felt zero stress whatsoever.

After security you'll be asked to take place in a room with four windows. There were four other visa applicants in my timeslot. It's first come first serve in your timeslot. The person at window one asks you for the required documents, such as DS160, passport pictures, police records and birth certificate. You're then instructed to take your fingerprints. All of this went extremely smooth and was done for everyone in minutes. After a few minutes people are being called to window 3 where the actual interview will take place. The consular officer was extremely kind and nice. The benefit (and perhaps also a con) of having multiple applicants in the same room is that you can hear other people's story. The CO was extremely k... read complete review

My appointment was at 8:30, but I arrived at 8:10. I was allowed to immediately go inside.

People at the security were real friendly. Had to put my stuff in a little bin which went through a security scan, and I had to walk through a metal detector. No issues here, you are allowed to take your phone inside, you just need to turn the Bluetooth off. Security was real patient explaining I had to actually go to my main settings on an Apple iPhone or Bluetooth wouldn't truly be off.

Then I had to wait for a bit, at 8:25 I got called up to the first window.
They scanned my passport, took my fingerprints and gathered documents like birth certificate, marriage certificate and police certificate. Strange thing here was that the state.gov website states you need to bring your original, a photocopy of the original and a translated version of your birth certificate and marriage certificate, however they only wanted my translated versions. I had originally upl... read complete review
