Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husband had his interview at the Amsterdam consulate on February 27th, 2012. The interview was scheduled for 1:30, and he arrived early, just before 1 pm. Because he was so early, they told him to scram until closer to 1:30, so he went and had a coffee and came back to he consulate at around 1:15 pm. He was second in line, and once inside had to wait an hour to be seen. Once it was his turn, he was told to sign his DS-230 Part II, and was asked a few basic questions - where and when did you meet your wife, when did you get married, and they asked a question about why one of the police certificates had been unobtainable (we had a reasonble justification which they immediately accepted.). Once that was done, the consulate took his passport and told him he would have his passport with visa within a week. Yesterday the passport was delivered to his local post office, and my husband picked it up today - four working days after the interview. Overall it was an easy, relaxed, non-stressful... read complete review

Interview today. Pretty nervous and the fact that I didn't bring my phone didn't really help either. I missed the train I had directions printed out for, but luckily I remembered how to get to the doctor(same stop, pretty much) so I got there fine, albeit a little later than intended.

When I got there, it was pretty difficult to miss what with the flag and the big gate :D. Not entirely sure what time I got there, but there weren't many people yet. Small "border check" with a metal detector and everything and I was allowed in and directed to go to window 5.

Due to the construction you need to go up a ramp first before going into the building. Window 5 is directly on the right if you get in this way. It's in a separate room from the main room with the first 4 windows.

Got called in by name to the window the lady asked for my papers and patiently waited for me to get everything from my folder(Passport, birth certificate, 7 euro postage, financi... read complete review

Hi allemaal.

Alright, here goes;

I had my interview in Amsterdam yesterday. I will admit, I was very nervous. I had gone to the consulate before to get a student visa years back, and did not remember it as a fun time. At 13.30 the people were asked to come to the gate. The ones with an immigration appointment can go first (IF you do not bring any electronics!!) I had left all electronics at home, and was the first to go in.

The building is currently under construction, which takes away about half of the intimidation factor of this place. Construction workers were walking through the waiting area continuously. Kind of funny, and a good reminder that all this is still real life with real people.

First I had to submit some things at window 5. Passport. Birth-certificate plus copy. Affidavit of support (one from Trevor, and one from our Co-Sponsor.) The lady went through all the supporting evidence and took some papers from that pile. 2 passport photos. F... read complete review

On July 21st I had my Medical (€ 145,-), the appointed Doctor did a quick check, gave me one vaccination (DTKP € 35,-) and took some blood. Next stop that day was the X-ray (€ 50,-) and that only took 10 minutes.

On July 28th I had my Interview on the American Consulate in Amsterdam, got to the Consulate at 13:15 pm and there was already a line. At exactly 13:30 pm security opened the gate and asked the people with an appointment to step forward and come in, and then he asked who did not have electronic equipment with them and because I left my cell phone home I could immediately step to the front of the line and was directed to window 5. The very nice young lady asked for all the forms, their copies and proof of payment (€ 263,-) took my finger prints and signed of the documents, it took no longer than 10 minutes.

After about a 20 minute wait I was called to window 6 where the CO took my oath and asked where I and my fiance met, I answered that we... read complete review
