Arrival:
My husband's interview was set for a Tuesday, so we decided to do his medical on Friday in order to have a day in between the medical and interview in case they didn't give us the results the same day. I'm glad we did that because some people who had their medical Friday weren't given their results until Monday. It was worth not having to worry about that. We flew into Juarez from Tijuana on Thursday on Aeromexico. Hotels aren't allowed to have shuttles from the airport so you must take a taxi. The taxi from the airport to the area with all the hotels was 250 pesos. You pay inside and give your receipt to the taxi driver who takes you. Its about a 10-15 min drive.

Hotel:
We stayed at the Wyndham Microtel in a “queen suite” which is a larger room with a kitchenette, since we were traveling with our 10 month old son and wanted him to have more room to play. There is a queen bed on one side and on the other is a couch that turns into another bed... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

We had no issues at the Consulate. It was pretty simple once the interview is set. We had interview for 7:15 and by 9am.. we were on our 12 hr drive home. The interview involved my fiance and her 2 sons.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiancee (Pily) just got her K-1 visa approved! I want to say THANK YOU for all of the VJ posts about the process. We have lurked on this site for several years, and got tons of useful info about the process. Here's our review of our experience in Juarez, as it is a little different than some others we've seen on here.

My fiancee is from Morelia and I'm from Los Angeles. We couldn't find any good flights directly to Juarez from our cities, so we decided to meet in Guadalajara, spent a night, then fly to Juarez the next day.

Day 1 (April 23)

We woke up at 4am Guadalajara time (1hr ahead of Juarez), our flight left at 6:55 and we arrived in Juarez just after 8am local time. We were already awake for 5 hours without eating, so we decided to have some Subway in the airport before taking a taxi to our hotel. We were staying at Ibis, and we arrived at 9:30am. Apparently, Ibis is a very busy hotel (it is very close to the Consulate and two medi... read complete review

Hi!
I just wanted to post some things about my fiancés experience in Ciudad-Juarez for the consulate K-1 visa interview. I will quickly say that the taxis are expensive from the airport (about 300-400 pesos) and you do need to be careful of the taxis. Not to scare anyone with this, but just be aware of your surroundings. My fiancé said that it is dangerous there but there are a lot of police/security everywhere so that is both reassuring and alarming. It wasn't very busy this week when he was there (flew in on Monday April 6th 2015 and flew out on Thursday), there were no people on the streets after dark and not many throughout the day. The location seemed very quiet and not very long wait times. He decided to walk around and find the locations of all the places he needed to visit so he wasn’t stressing about it immediately before appointments. He mostly ate at the hotel restaurant (he stayed at IBIS-details coming) or at a restaurant in the plaza across the street f... read complete review
