Despite the huge crowds and long lines, the consulate seemed very efficient. However, expect long days of waiting (for both of you). The medical exam must be done at one of the clinics located near the consulate; the one we went to was right next door, on the same side of the road. Look for the line coming out the door. My fiance went in before 7:30 am and didn't come out until 2 pm. You do NOT need vaccinations for a K1 visa. My fiance spent a long time waiting in a line inside the clinic just to find out he didn't need the vaccinations. You pick up the results around the back of the clinic after 2 pm. The following day, my fiance entered the consulate before 8 am. We got in the line around 7 am, which was already really long, but I wouldn't worry about getting there super early - they let everyone in even if you're at the end of the line. The USC will NOT be allowed into the consulate under ANY circumstances unless you have a note of permission from inside. You can wait ac... read complete review

IT went well the only bad thing about it was the long and nasty wait.

It's difficult to choose a rating because the day I showed up for the interview, I learned that the consulate had taken the week off for Thanksgiving. Yes, the ENTIRE week. I guess they are just really really patriotic or something. I didn't know Thanksgiving was a 5 day holiday, but $1100 later, I was informed. But it was all good. The security guard told me I could return Monday, and they would be open. All I needed to do was tell my college, I would be missing a few finals. My fiancee could ask her boss for just 5 more days off of work. I could pay Aeromexico $150 to change my flight plan; pay $200 to Hotel La Playa for a couple extra days. All in all, not a big sacrifice on my end for a little added holiday pleasure on their end. I only hope that on Monday, those government workers will be quite thoroughly and cozilly relaxed. I know their job and health benefits must be quite wrenching.

And on a serious note, if you look at the holiday schedule on their website, Tue... read complete review

Long day of waiting because Fiance's don't have specific appointments. Must have official appointment letter in hand. Consulate routinely sends applicants out to get new photos taken (but provides a pass to return). It wasn't clear what financial information was truly necessary as they took everything provided including 3 years of tax transcripts, notarized I-134 (even though it is not a requirement in CDJ), bank letter, IRA account balance, employer letter and copies of paystubs + one original paystub. Only three questions asked at interview - how did you meet your fiance? have you ever been to the US and when? do you have children and are they planning to go with you? Was not asked for any relationship evidence or photos.

My fiance had his interview on Wed. Everything went well. He said all the officials were friendly. They asked for my (US citizen) birth certificate which we did not have with us (we think, since I had been born outside the US). Fortunately, I had gone along to Juarez because they asked for me to come in then. When I explained my situation of being born outside the US they said they would have my birth recorded in the system and it wouldn't be a problem. They did ask me other questions including the name of my fiance's dog!! They then asked him the same questions to make sure we were legit. All went well and he had the visa in hand about 1pm! Praise God!
