so we got to Juarez on Tuesday, February 19th. We had to travel all the way up from Tehuacan, Puebla (fiancée´s hometown) so we were pretty tired when we got in. We stayed at the Hotel Lucerna, right on Paseo Triunfo de la Republica and Lopez Mateos (street the consulate is on). I recommend this hotel because its close to the consulate and its very good- especially for mexican standards. The hotels adjacent to the consulate are more budget-oriented, and to be honest for an extra 20-30 bucks per night, it was nice being in a clean, secure hotel. You can get good deals online for the Lucerna and Holiday Inn Express and they both have excellent locations right in the Pronaf area.
Wednesday morning we got in line for the medical exam at about 6:45. It really wasnt that cold, but I would advise to take a jacket or sweater in the winter because it is kind of windy. My fiancée Kari was let in within 10 minutes of lining up and was given a number. From what i could tell it re... read complete review

Hello everybody,
We finally got our visa!!! We are very, very happy!!!. I want to share my experience to all, especially to those who have kids. I took my 3 kids with me and there is some advice I would like to give to you.
I found very good plane prices through the airline VIVA AEROBUS, they have very good offers and it is very cheap and the service is good enough. You need to travel to Monterrey first and then to Juárez. We were hosted by some friends there, so it was a real relief to have some known people to take care of us. Directly from the airplane, at 7 am, we went to the clinic next door to the consulate. I recommend that clinic because it is smaller and there are less people. It was very cold and we were outside for about an hour, then we entered and made a line, and they asked for these papers:
* the letter the embassy sent you in package 3
* the passports
* and the medica... read complete review

(This is an edited version from 2 e-mails that Ruth sent me. She hasn't had time to do the actual review yet, hopefully she will get around to doing that soon. She has 3 kids. They first went for their medicals on Wednesday, but the doctor or nurse "forgot" to do the TB test on the kids, so they had to come back; that is what Ruth is referring to...They first went for their medicals on Wednesday, came back on Saturday, came back to get the results on Tuesday, and ended up back there again for the interview on Wednesday...AND they were there for 10 hours on that Wednesday, and were the last ones out of the building!!! Lucky for us, she and the kids were staying at the house of a family friend, AND she had added an extra day to the trip, "just in case". Turns out that was a good idea. )
" Something happened on Saturday. We went to pick up the kid's medical results and then, after an hour of waiting they told us that they should do the tuberculosis test to... read complete review

I have to say this is the day I thought my life fell apart...this experience was horrible, but as I look back I am now so grateful to have my family together. This appointment/interview continued for days, to result in my husband being forced to stay in Mexico by hiself for an unknown timeframe, which ended up being over 8 months. At this time, our son was about to celebrate his first birthday and I was sent home to begin my journey back home as single mother. As many can understand I was very sad, yet angry that they could do this to us it was horrible. It was not until 8 months later that I made the dreaded trip back to Ciudad Juarez in hopes of bring my husband home. With great happiness, we returned home together to start again where we had left of at. It turned into one of the happiest days of our lives.

The biggest negative about the Embassy visit was all the waiting. If we did it over again, we would not get to the clinic nor the Embassy early. Just show up when they tell you, not before. Overall, people were decent to us. There is a lot of lack of information. We didn't believe anything people were telling us outside the embassy. Confirm everything. In our experience, we needed hardly any paperwork. Must be our file was complete enough. But if we did it over again I would still carry around the 15 pounds of paperwork. Everything went smoothly once the waiting in line was done. One big complaint: without any prior notice, we were sent to a bridge crossing an hour and a half away for the final stamp in the visa. $100 taxi ride! Consider renting a car for that price.
